GAMES: GameSpot GameFAQs MOVIES: Metacritic Movietome Comic-Con

Today marks one week since I started my new job as an associate producer at Electronic Arts Los Angeles. For my first assignment, I'm getting to help wrap production on the PC version of Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars. I'll also be taking in a lot of new information about the process here, hopefully without getting underfoot during a busy and exciting time. In short, it feels good to be on the team. Going into this, I had an idea of the types of people I wanted to work with and what types of games I wanted to work on, and all of that seems to be here. I'm also lucky to be working alongside and learning the trade from one of my former GameSpot colleagues, Mr. Amer Ajami, whom I owe a lot to for paving the way for me.

I really appreciated the show of support and good faith in response to my previous post; I owe a lot to you, too. After all, thanks to you I think my family finally gets what the hell it is I've been doing with my life. Let me make you a promise: For each game I get to work on, from this first project onward, I will keep you in mind and do everything I can to help ensure you won't be disappointed if you decided to play it.

All the best to my comrades at GameSpot.

Awesome start in the industry, Greg. I had a feeling that's where you were going after you specified that it was an RTS series. You will be working on the PC version, right? I'm pretty sure Amer is producing that title, if memory serves me right from his interview on 1UP Yours.

Can't wait to see the game and make sure to keep us posted on what you're doing Greg!

Posted Jan 19, 2007 1:57 pm PT
We love you Greg!
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:00 pm PT
Should I be so fortunate, I'll be stalking you for an exclusive C&C3 interview. Watch your back! But in all seriousness, best of luck and enjoy yourself.
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:00 pm PT
If your dedication as an editor is at all reflective of your dedication as a game-developer, then that promise will certainly be kept.

sounds very cool. good luck!
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:01 pm PT
I concidered it for a while...but now I defiantly will buy C&C3 as soon it comes out, and I wish you best of luck for future projects Greg

Nice, Greg, you'll be working with the best of the best, on the best strategy game around. Can't wait to see your touches in the final game, and what the guys over at Westwood do with it. If you get a chance, give my regards to Billy Dee, alright?

Good luck!

A brilliant journalist can only lead to a brilliant game, GOOD LUCK!
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:10 pm PT
Congrats Greg! EA LA, huh? That sounds like a good place to start off your game making career. As for Command & Conquer 3, I'm not much of an RTS fan myself, but with you helping with the game let's hope it becomes a big success.

EA LA huh? Rock on! I'm sure that whatever you put into the project will make it 100% better than it would have been originally. Anyway we are all pulling for you so good luck and keep us updated you gaming guru you!
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:21 pm PT
EALA and C&C eh? Not a huge fan of either. But I wish you luck and happiness Greg!
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:23 pm PT
Hey, Greg.......Nice to hear from you.......Congrats on your new job again...EA...Interesting choice. Can't wait to play the game....
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:24 pm PT
Congradulations and good luck on your new venture in the gaming industry. C&C 3 looks to be really sweet! Please don't allow EA to screw us over on downloadable content or what not on future titles. That stuff is for the birds.

Anyways, it would be weird to see you being interviewed, instead of the interviewer, by other gaming sites and magazines on future projects. Or even to see your name in the instruction manuals and end credits.

Again good luck and congrats on this awesome job! Keep us posted on what happens.
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:25 pm PT
Enjoy your new job, I expect a lot from the C&C series now! I also wondered where Mr Ajami went ...
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:25 pm PT
EA, awesome. Good luck on C&C3.
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:29 pm PT
Heh, turned out my source was quite accurate. Command and Conquer 3 it is.

I've been looking for an excuse to give the RTS a try in earnest, and Command and Conquer 3 sounds like a good start.
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:29 pm PT
Sweet! I was super excited about C&C3 anyway, but now I can look for your name in the credits, right? That's awesome.

And I have a lot more respect for EA as a whole lately than I did in the past... Partly because they're actually bringing out multi-platform Wii games that look GOOD! So I'd say you're in alright hands... Not that them making oodles of money doesn't hurt either
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:33 pm PT
Awesome, I'll buy the game you're workinh on the minute it gets put on the shelf. If it's bad, I'll understand that some other guy screwed it up.
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:39 pm PT
Best of luck Greg! I'm sure your gamespot experience has been invalueable and anything you create will be pure genius.
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:41 pm PT
Hope it all goes well, Shall look forward to hearing about all of your game developments. Thats a really cool job to have and i hope the work on C&C 3 goes well.
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:48 pm PT
wow , thats a gr8 start , goodluck with your future at EA
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:48 pm PT
well, like a few people here, I am not a fan of RTS games unfortunately but I am sure the game will do well with you on board now. Also, like some people said, if you are as brilliant a game developer as you were a journalist, then you are going to be awesome. The best of luck and I am sure C & C 3 will do well with you on board so take care.
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:53 pm PT
Fanastic start in the gaming industry, I'm glad to see you work with Amer(one of the former senior editors in gs). I will surely buy C&C once I launches.. Best of luck to your new career Greg Kasavin
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:54 pm PT
goodluck Mr.Kasavin you will be missed
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:56 pm PT
cant wait for the game. make it good!
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:57 pm PT
You know, after playing the trainwreck that was Middle-earth II on the 360 (the slowdown makes the term "slide show" seem generous), I had pretty much written off any console RTS EA puts out, but since you're on the team, I'll give it a second chance.

No slowdown, constrictive camera and blocky pixels, please! The control work was excellent, though.
Posted Jan 19, 2007 2:58 pm PT
Congrats and good luck. And what's this about Xbox Live Vision support for post match humiliation? Do tell....
Posted Jan 19, 2007 3:07 pm PT
That sounds really cool. Good luck man.
Posted Jan 19, 2007 3:13 pm PT
Well, being a game review for 10 years, I think you know what games need.
Posted Jan 19, 2007 3:15 pm PT
Best of luck with the continuation of your career in the gaming industry!
Posted Jan 19, 2007 3:16 pm PT
Awesome work mate. Glad to hear that you're enjoying yourself. I know that you'll do a great job thanks to all the years critiqueing games. Can't wait to grab the game and see your name in the manual. I'm sure EA LA will be even better than before now that they have your input on projects. Keep up the awesome work!
Posted Jan 19, 2007 3:24 pm PT
Thanks for letting us know what you're up to. EA can only improve with you on its team! They got very lucky. I wish you and your family all the best of everything. Поздравляю!
