So recently while on one of my late night forum runs i ran across a very interesting thread in the ps3 board (it wasnt about rumors!). The guy, or gal asked the question "Does movie playback actually matter in a gaming console?" and it sparked a thought. When it comes down to my console playing movies in, whether it be HD-DVD, Blu-Ray, or DVD, i really could not care, simply because im a "gamer" not a movie buff. But who would it matter two.... hmmm....lets ponder that one. I think the Sony PS3 Blu Ray player will appeal more to the 30-ish year old parent who has kids and a "other" who may not play games as well, they are going to want to get he console that also plays movies to lessen the clutter in their living room.
But! if you just (like me) a teen age gamer who has a limited income will most likely be better off with the (dare i suggest it?!?! yes i will cause it rocks) a Xbox360. Not because its style-ish white and lime green but because it gives you your games, still plays the dvds, which as a teenager is really all i can afford... i cant go 35 bucks for a movie, and it will also allow me to buy a Hd-DVD player later on... if i want/need one.
IDK, i think people are pretending the format "war" is the same thing as the console war. I see so relation between the two as only one system is depending on the format war to sell.
Then theres the Wii..... yea, its there, its a gaming machine, yay nintendo
