Well I finally cracked. I played Guitar Hero for the first time ever this past Sunday. For the longest time I've avoided Guitar Hero like the Bubonic Plauge considering that I am a guitar player myself with a struggling garage band (Fools That Follow). Being a guitar player I felt quite a bit of anger at this game since in my opinion it made playing guitar seem cheep and not as prestigious as it used to be. I felt that now there were going to be a bunch of 13 year old running around thinking that they could play guitar and tearing down people who had invested years trying to better thmeselves and develope a "true" talent. I figured why waste your time pretending to play guitar when you could oh...I don't know...actually play a guitar? I know, I know, I totally sound like I'm taking it way to seriously and should lighten up and just let people play what they want to play. But still it bothered me. That was until my cousin had a HighSchool graduation party. This was automatically a bummer since this would mark the end of me knowing anyone who was still in High School thus making me feel old. I'm 23. But it still made me a little depressed. Anyway her brother who is a year older had a spot set up for his Wii and a copy of the latest Guitar Hero. He knew I played and immeadiatly started badgering me to play. "You gotta try it Nych you'll love it I promise." Yeah, sure. I scoffed watching my youngest cousin who is 8 struggle through "Hit me with your best shot" on easy. So when he had gotten booed off the stage by the cyber audience it was my turn I figured O.k. I'll give it a whirl I've been playing for eight years now so I should be o.k at this. I went down the list until I found a song that I couldn't pass up "The Seeker" by the Who. I can actually play this song on guitar I said to myself this should work out. I chose to try it on medium, easy just wasn't my style. Long story short I nailed it. 98% on my first try. After that they had to kick me off of the stupid thing. I took over. I played every song on medium that I could before my little 8 year old cousin literaly told me to take a hike. I couldn't belive how addicting it was. And honestly, easy. I guess I have a head start with my past guitar experiance but upon talking with my band mates they all experienced quite the opposite. They all said they sucked horrible and couldn't pass anything, even on easy. So honestly I'm a little torn. It's fun I'll say that, but really I still think that there's just no substitute for the feeling of that beautiful nickle wire vibrating under my fingers. Or the electricity of "riding the lightning" so-to-speak during a shredding solo. So the moral of the story kids is yeah Guitar Hero is fun but get out of the living room and into the garage. You'll thank yourself for it later. Keep rocking!

Browsing around on Google today for obscure NES accessories I came across one that made me do a double take as I reached for my Mountain Dew (aka Necture of the Gods) A keyboard that hooks up to either your NES or SNES and teaches you how to play piano. Where the hell was I when they released that? The only thing I'm left wondering is if it really works or not. I wonder what you readers out there think about this one or if you even knew about it.Here's the promo I found along with a picture. Enjoy.
