I tried calling people by their first name on GS if I knew it and it just felt weird, so I stuck to whatever they put as their screen name.

For example, I tried referring to Hazel and Symphony by their real names on my blog for a while, and it just didn't feel right calling them Pete and John for some reason - I got to know them as Hazel and Symphony, and that became who they are to me in a weird way (if that makes any sense), and so that's what I'm going to call them.

However, if they use part of their name, or a nick-name, in their screen name, or have their face as their avatar, (like nyc05 aka Daniel), then the real name is fine.

I use my last name as my GS name and my real name in my PSN ID - that's why I have no problem being called Patrick, Pat, or Abdel as you guys are used to calling me.

It's nice to know that your name is Luis since we're good friends, but I'm afraid I'm going to continue to refer to you as Green for the reason I explained above.

I agree with abdel. It feels strange to start calling people by different names that you didn't meet them with. If I ever see you in real life, I'd probably continue calling you GreenGoblin (even in public). Our internet names have become a part of us.
