Graphics,A.I and other processing aplications

the wii has not seen significant improvement in this regard. where as both PS3 and X360 have improved allowing developers the freedom to create more immersive worlds. and this is a key factor because gaming is all about immersion! it's about interacting in a world thats otherwise impossible. more processing power= more freedom and therefore more potential in improving this immersion. now I'm not saying the wii hasn't graphically managed this with some games. it has achieved this but the level of freedom is limited.

Gameplay and Controls!

is 1:1 mapping really an improvement?? is that method of control better than normal mapping? well I don't think it's an improvement but it's not a step back as well. it's simply a different method of interaction. for example playing snowboarding game on the wiifit with 1:1 mapping would be dull once the novelty effect wears off. because for you to do tricks with 1:1 mapping requires you to create that action in real life! same with a game like ninja gaiden. it may seem good to have 1:1 mapping on your sword, except you mite actually have to study ninjitsu to execute the move set.

my point is despite Nintendo claiming wiimote as a revolution, it fails to do some of the basic aspects of gaming. It cannot do those special moves/interations in 1:1 mapping.so even the wii uses normal mapping. except a special move normally requiring an efficient button combo will be replaced by an implementation to a rather odd preset swirl. for example waving the wiimote in circles will unleash the move gleaming dragon( Ryu spins his sword around him slashing enemies near by, actual move in NG)

so when you think about it, the wiimote is not much of a revolution, but an attempt to bring newcomers to experience gaming with false claims of 1:1 immersion!! the focus in gaming is not controls but what those controls do! even on the wii the novel sense of controls only lasted for a few hours for me. and afterwards you are simply entertained by your virtual interactions!! which the wiimote is inefficient at providing.

so what Nintendo should've done to really justify any sort of "revolution" is to have both options available. the wiimote to people who have never played games and the standard controller for those who are already gamers. and it's nice to see this been done on games like SSBB.so all in all concerning the aspects of what a console is meant to deliver, the wii is not an evolution. but more a translation of what is already considered as gaming. to be precise a translation of lastgen potential. so in summary The wii isn't a nextgen console.

HOWEVER the other two consoles aren't quite next gen either. The true nextgen platform is the PC. its a platform thats always changing and always improving. both in hardware and software!! Its a platform thats about choice!

for my system war topic

http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=26390146

(1)****************

There are no set prices for your hardware. and EVERYTHING is customizable. for example if you are a gamer who plays excessively then it would make sense for you to build a very powerful/expensive system. if you are only in to casual/ Internet arcade games then any PC to your preference of price will do. and if you were casual but want a deeper experience then a simple upgrade of a graphics card will solve the problem. this freedom lacks in consoles.now I don't know about other country prices. but go here to see what PC gaming is like in NZ

www.pricespy.co.nz (I assume prices are much cheaper in other countries compared to NZ)

(2)****************

because there's no preset system all games will be (ideally) available. no more exclusives means gamers wouldn't miss out on experiences. a halo fan will be able to play metroid and MGS4

(3)****************

the gaming market will grow much faster as now there's direct competition in games and hardware. basically all parts of a PC will be in competition. i.e memory cards, graphics cards, hard drives etc etc. more competition is a good thing for gamers btw. and now since motion control is popular there will be others making devices as well. so if you don't like wiimote then you can simply give another manufacture a go!

Multiplayer!

User content! the amount of user contents and mods available are insane.

well that's all I can think about atm. if there's anything else lemme know.btw this is the ideal scenario for gamers. I'm not saying PC's are perfect! PC do have many issues to solve. but IDEALLY us gamers should be one community.and shouldn't hate each other like we see today.

Some people just don't have opinions. Like Great_Ragnarok.
Great_Ragnarok must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could Great_Ragnarok possibly have for not rating a single film?
