I did a double take when I saw this news. At first, when someone posted about it in one of the forums, I figured it had to be a hoax because the release date that they suggested was June. I figured that it didn't give Blizzard enough time to build up the hype.

But then I thought about it, what games are coming out in June? Or July for that matter? There are a couple, but not many, that interest me. Whereas this fall there is a huge glut of games that will surely have my wallet screaming at me. So maybe it makes sense to spring this as a surprise during the slow summer gaming months.

And with both a new Blizzard title coming and Fallout 3, I am rapidly running out of excuses to avoid paying the exorbinant sum needed to update my archaic gaming computer.

I defnitely agree with you about the growing ned to upgrade. If you're interested the folks over at GFW Radio had a two hour podcast with Bill Roper (formerly of Blizzard, now heading Flagship studios), and he touched (rather briefly) on his theories of why it would be Starcraft 2, most of which were very logical. But yeah, here's hoping its the announcement we've been waiting for...but even it that doesn;t happen, any new Blizzard game is virtually guaranteed to be good news. Those guys are quality.

No argument here. Blizzard makes a quality game. Although they have a real tendency to recycle their plot ideas repeatedly and that can be annoying.
