GAMES: GameSpot GameFAQs MOVIES: Metacritic Movietome Comic-Con

Hi all

Every one makes a "best of" lists at this time of year but in this blog post I want to share with you 3 issues that gaming could do with out.

  1. 1.Ratings Arguments :

I am really sick of hearing about people who are saying that games like Manhunt are too violent and should not be allowed to go in sale.
If you guys had played any games you would know the reason why we play video game in the first place. It is to have escapist entertainment where we can think of our selves as we would like to be.
Also it worth noting that the rating for video game is complete joke as many
of us know. Because of the fact that there is no one organization rating games
which decides game ratings. Ultimately ratings are decided by country's like USA or the UK then the rest of the country's just adapt that rating.

  1. 2.Console wars:

If you spend as much time playing games as I do you will know that the console wars are ridiculous as it really comes down the fact what games do you like. E.g. I got my Xbox 360 because of the fact that I wanted to play Halo 3 and Splinter cell 5. Where as some one who likes Metal Gear solid will buy a PS3. If you like both Metal Gear solid and Splinter cell 5 buy both consoles.
With a little bit of research it's that easy.

  1. 3.In game advertisements:

I don't know which game started this but in game adverts are annoying and frustrating. The thing is I don't want to see adverts in my face despite what this article says http://www.gamespot.com/news/6178031.html?tag=result;title;1
The reasons for this are as follows

    • *I prefer not to have to pay for adverts in the games I play.
    • *As I have said before we play Video games for escapist entertainment not so we can be brought to reality every time we look at an advert.
    • *Every developer tends to over do adverts e.g. in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas was terrible as I could not go for 1 level with out seeing an advert.

Whats is your issues that gaming could do with out ???

The console wars bit bugs me a bit, too. In-game advertising has always been slightly annoying, but I haven't played any games lately where it's been really bad. One thing I find really irritating, though, is "elitism" in game reviews. If a game doesn't do this, that or the other, all of sudden it's a piece of crap. Please. Ah, that's why I don't put much stock into reviews or scores anymore.

I fully agree with all of your arguments.

Violence in games is taken to much greater regard as the rating guys think games are for children and violence is bad for them. Then, why not stop all those movies, that have all action and hard language stuff in them and make them AO?
