So I'm at work yesterday. I'm helping customers and overall enjoying myself. This woman comes up to the information desk, and she is a ham-fisted you-know-what from the beginning. First of all, I was helping another customer for a span of a minute at most. They asked me to help them get a book off the top shelf. SO I go back, find it immediately, hand it to the customer ask if they need anything else, and tell them ot have a nice day and return to the info desk where the women is waiting. The first thing that she says to me is that she's been waiting for the past 10 minutes for someone to come help her... Which isn't true because prior to helping the other customer, I had been standing at the information desk putting sales stickers on DVDs we just recieved. So I just let it go and ask her what I can help her find. Well she says that she heard about this conservative women in the news because she made some reference to him being gay (See WARNING BAD WORD USED IN TITLE OF ARTICLE)

I now knew that me and this women were not gonna get along, because she was delighted with Ann Coulter's slur. She now wanted any of Coulter's books she could get and any other books that were similar that I could recommend. Now at this point, I want to tell the woman she can find her own dang books (plus or minus a few choice explitives). I show her. She starts talking about how refreshing it is to have someone telling the truth... I'm flabbergasted that this women has never heard of Coulter before, they are going to be in the same circle in hell... that is a reference to Dante's Inferno in case you are wondering... She then informs me that she aparently heard about this woman at some sort of church meeting.. I had to choke down a contemptous laugh. I mean this is what Jesus teaches isn't it? Love everyone as long as they believe exactly as you do... Wait.. that wasn't Jesus, who was that? Oh yeah, Hitler So then she starts to tell me about how she had cut off communication with her daughter because her daughter was now pro-Abortion.. She was a "feminist". The last word was said with the most distaste I have ever heard... I mean I dislike feminists, but I have a feeling that me and her disliked them for seperate reasons. (If you really want my views on feminists [please note the use of feminists and not the use of feminism] feel free to request I can make a seperate blog post about that as well). Well then this women tells me how ungodly her daughter has become because she's one of "those liberals". note to anyone reading... If you go into a bookstore... 99% of the people who work there will be liberal. I don't care how red your state is, bookstore employees are almost always liberal, and nearly 50% of them will be at least homosexual. Do not start spouting your beliefs to them as if they will agree with you, you should actually never do this in any setting. So I'm about to leave, and then she turns to questioning to me, and asks me "Are you pro-life or pro-Abortion?" I was able to stop myself from punching her in the ovaries. I simply stared at her and said "I"m neither, do you need anything else?" She then looked at me confused and said "You have to be one or the other. So which is it?" I was really close to exploding but I was able to keep all internalized, ah who would have thought that suffering PTSD as a kid would actually leave me the ability to tolerate a huge amount of stupidity. I simply looked at her and said "No ma'am, I am neither pro-life, nor pro-Abortion, the term that you are so conveniently ignoring is 'Pro-Choice'. There is a difference. Can I help you find another book or may I go help the customer over there?" She said "Pro-choice is pro-abortion" I said "You are welcome to your opinion. Do you need any more help that I can offer?" Please note that was I was thinking was "because you need professional help". She was flabbergasted, she was angry, and she apparently spoke with a supervisor after I left, and the supervisor asked her exactly how it happened and she said that I cursed at her and called her stupid. Luckily for me, the supervisor had actually been on the other side shelving books in history, and had heard the whole conversation. He pointed out to her that I she had asked me for my opinion and then been upset with my answer. Well she apparently bought the books and left.. God I hope she doesn't come back.
