I have the exact same car and color! I know what you mean about washing it, black must be kept clean to have a great sheen to it. Mine is a 2002. Only trouble is I got 80000 on it already.

Don't you just hate it when that happens; wash your car then within 1-2hours it rains. Suppose it's more shocking where you are (california). As you probably don't get as much rain as we do over here in UK. btw, nice car. You own that and you are 18? must be doing well.

What model is that? The older (2005 and below) 3 series are the coolest BMW's.
