Here's my take on Green Island. I looked for the game here on Gamespot and couldn't find a listing or it. First off I'd like to bring up the inevitable comparisons some may make betwixt this and Bubble Bobble.
They both have anime-ish characters in Bubble Bobble they'd be the dragons. Here? You have a little girl who looks like the green pallette swap twin of little red riding hood.
Then there's the bubble blowing and the platform/bubble jumping you'll be doing. Not to mention the gliding fall. Both are present in not only Bubble Bobble but also this game.
Then there's the use of said jumping and bubbles to help you net some collectibles. Again present not only in Bubble Bobble but also this game.
So you might wonder what sets this apart from Bubble Bobble. That would be the lack of any enemies that might stand in your way be it at their normal pace or getting angry. There's none of that here.
Instead what you have is a seemingly unlimited period of time to use your jumping and bubble blowing skills in tandem with some platform hopping and bubble blowing devices to aid you in collecting the collectibles.
Where Bubble Bobble focused on trapping enemies in your bubbles and set you in room after room to clear them all and collect the collectibles. Here you just collect the collectibles and try to get the fastest time.
Also of note the girl seems to be very emotional about each and every collectible she collects. I don't know why she just is. You can see it in her face that pops up from the side of the screen each and every time you collect one.
Overall not a bad game, the level design is good and varied sometimes you'll have to use your bubbles and jumping other times jumping alone will suffice. Then there are the bubble blowers which help add a little bit more variety.
Not sold, then try the trial game before you buy it... if you want to.
