Here is where I post my occasional ramblings about anything that comes to mind. Feel free to read if you wish, but don't blame me if you get bored.

Goodness, it's been over a month since I posted last, or did anything here for that matter. Geeze. I really have to stop doing this. I am horrible with time management. Anyway, for those of you who are interested, I have some news on the gaming front.
As it turns out, I didn't get the Guild Wars Platinum Edition. One day I went to EB Games to find it was in the computer and I could pre-order it, the next time I go I find out it isn't in the computer. So, I instead used the money to purchase Resident Evil: The Essentials and Tomb Raider: Anniversary. I have also finally completed Tomb Raider: Legend (minus some unlock-ables) and have begun Anniversary. I have also continued playing Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories (very fun game) and I just recently received Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time as a gift from my father. I like Sands so far and I can't wait to get the other two games.
Now, I have been interested in making a sprite comic for a while and upon locating tonnes of sprites from Disgaea and Disgaea 2, I decided to make sprite comic based on the series. I'm still working on the website and stuff, but I planning to have the first comic up within a week or two. I will keep everyone here posted as I update the comic and you can let me know what you think, suggest story ideas and what-not. Sounds good?
Remember the sketch of Jora, the Norn Hero from Guild Wars: Eye of the North I told you about a while back? I decided to make it into pixel art. Since I don't have a tablet and am not the best mouse artist, I figured it would work very well. It will take a while, but I will let you know what I have finished it.
That's about it for now.
Cheers.

When I first started playing video games, I played small PC games like Jill of the Jungle, Crystal Caves, Hocus Pocus ... games my father got me into that were graphically pleasing yet easy to grasp and fun to play. Those were the only games I played for a while until I was introduced to the PlayStation console at the turn of the millennium with the games like SimCity 2000 and Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strike's Back. The game that really got my into gaming, though, was Final Fantasy VIII. These games were fun to play and addictive but I had never really considered myself a gamer. There were many times I visited places like Toy R Us and, in recent years, EB Games, looking for titles I wanted for ages or ones that simply caught my interest and I found some decent, lesser known titles that way.
Until recently, even when I first started taking Gamespot by storm a couple of months ago, I said I was a game-player, not a gamer. But, really, is there even a difference? I used to think so.
My definition of a gamer-player, to me, was someone who just played games occasionally as a joyful pastime. Someone who doesn't play longer than perhaps a couple of hours a day and isn't very serious about it. They perhaps don't have a large variety of games they play but enjoy the ones the have none the less. They perhaps play on a console or two, but nothing more.
My definition of a gamer was someone who played games a hobby. They play games frequently, up the several hour a day or even all day, and like to collect games for a variety of consoles in a variety of genres, always trying to test themselves. They tend to takes some games seriously. They try to complete games as much as possible by collecting every item, finding every secret, et cetera. Basically, mastering the game if possible.
I stood by this opinion for a long time. However, I began to seriously consider if my reasonings for the two groups were decent. I began to evaluate how I approach games. I collect games for a variety of consoles, although I have a single console as a primary. I own almost twenty games (not counting the old-school computer games that are easy to download from the internet), with many more on my wishlist. I play games at least several hours a day. I am trying to widen by gaming tolerance and experience by obtaining games of more genres and consoles.
Basically, I wasn't what I considered a game-player anymore. I was a gamer.
Perhaps those differences are still valid to some people. Maybe some agree with the differences between the two groups. Maybe not. All I know is that I no longer do, at least when it comes to me. After evaluating how I approach games now and how I did when I first started, it is likely that I wasn't really a game-player after all. I am gamer, and I am proud of it.
That's my two cents.

Earlier this week, I bought a new game. My first new in several months and my first DS game ... Digimon World: Dusk! I was going to buy Pokemon Diamond but it was $10 CDN more expensive and I wanted to have enough money to preorder the Guild Wars Platinum Edition, so I went with Dusk instead. To tell you the truth, I don't regret it. I've been playing that game for almost twelve hours (over several days) and it felt good to be interested in Digimon again. It's another one of those favourites that you never really grow out of, kinda like Pokemon. I don't have my own DS yet though, so I'm borrowing my sister's DS Lite. It's kinda funny because she absolutely forbid me from playing Pokemon LeafGreen on her DS, but she let's me play this game on it. I think the only reason why is so she can watch me.
The Guild Wars Platinum Edition comes out on October 17th according to the employee at EB Games when I preordered it. At least that means I don't have to wait too long for it. The only setback after that is a computer that can run it, which I don't have right now, but I will. The more I see my cousins play it, the more I want to as well.
By the way, speaking of Digimon, has anyone seen the new series yet? It looks good, but I can't get the ToonDisney channel.
Cheers,
