The Electronic Entertainment Expo is back and bigger than ever (Or at least, as big as it used to be)! Megaton bombs are being dropped left and right, as everyone is trying to 1-up each other, it finally feels like good old E3 again.

I hope everyone is having fun. Personally, I've been enjoying every second of it. Here's some of the stuff that really impressed me:

One thing I don't get is why they're even attending E3 in the first place. They dropped out of the ESA, but they still want a slice of that pie? Pff...seriously. ...And where the **** is Blizzard?!

Modern Warfare 2 - ......Epic. From the ice climbing to the snowmobile chase, the trailer was intense. I can already feel the adrenaline just thinking about it. I wanna play it NAO!
Prototype
- Shapeshifting superpowers. Arm blades. Gliding. This game = cool
Singularity
- Game looks badass. You can manipulate the time of objects and even turn people to dust. How sweet is that?

Atlus is my favorite game developer. I was sad to learn that would be skipping last year's E3, but they are finally back! Go Atlus!

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor - It's a new SMT spinoff, so I'm not sure what to expect. I've still to see any gameplay footage, but from what I read, it sounds like it's shaping up to be another great game by Atlus.
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona
- So glad they are remaking it, I never got to play this masterpiece. Atlus is the best.

Lots of sweet game from Capcom, too bad Ace Attorney Investigation isn't among them. I just wish they could've shown Dead Rising 2 ...stupid swine flu!

Lost Planet 2 - Gorgeous graphics, giant boss monsters, online co-op. Hopefully, they won't screw up the PS3 version this time.
Resident Evil Portable
- I already own the first game 3 times, but hey... They're designing this specifically for the PSP, so it might be cool, right?

Electronic Arts' press conference was boring. Were they really expecting the EA Girls target market to be watching? At least they had cool games to show.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - Loved the first one. The new snow setting is cool, can't wait to play!
Dragon Age: Origins
- It's a BioWare RPG set in a fantasy world with multiple choices and consequences. If that isn't cool, then I don't know what is.
Crysis 2
- Crysis... for consoles. Only a logo was shown, but it's apparently going to push the PS3 to its limits. Hellz yeah.
Mass Effect 2
- From what I've seen, it looks like it fixes everything that felt lacking in its predecessor. Can't wait to import my hawt female Shepard and kick some Reaper ass.

Epic announcements from Konami. I only wish Gamespot broadcasted their press conference.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Big fan of the series. Plus, Kojima-san is making it.
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
- One Big Boss was badass, but four of them is better.
Metal Gear Solid: Rising
- Huge megaton announcement, totally wasn't expecting this. Kojima sneaking behind Don Mattrick was funny, but someone needs to seriously work on their acting skills.

These guys had a solid press conference. The games were sweet, the new features were interesting. Some of the parts were boring, but thankfully, they were also short.

Alan Wake - Wow. This game reminds me of Silent Hill, but... even better. Didn't like the shooting parts, though. How do you expect players to be scared, if you give them the means to defend themselves?
Halo 3: ODST
- I always wished Halo didn't have the powerful, regeneting shields. ODST is basically that. You now have limited life, forcing you to use strategy and stealth, instead of charging head-on. I'm very excited for this game, more so than I ever was for any of the main Halo games.
Halo: Reach
- New Halo game by Bungie.

Their conference wasn't as disastrous as I thought it would be. At first, they went on and on about games and that I didn't care about and statistics. But in the end, they also announced a bunch of cool games that saved the show from epic failure.

Golden Sun DS - OMFG! Been waiting for a sequel for years, now it's finally in the works. Hope it comes out soon, I need my GS fix.
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story - This game takes place inside Bowser?! How weird, but then again, so is every installment in the series. I love the M&L combat system and funny humor, gonna be getting this one on day 1.
Metroid: Other M - WHAAAA... Team Ninja?! Making Metroid?! *Epic nerdgasm*
New Super Mario Bros. Wii - I've always wanted to play Mario with my friends or family, and now I can.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 - W00000000t!... More SMG goodness, Yoshi, new powerups and abilities... What more could you ask for?
The Legend of Zelda Wii - Though not officially announced, Miyamoto-san confirmed that Nintendo was working on a new Zelda for Wii.

Easily the best out of the press conferences this year. There was barely any bs corporate speeches, they started showing games almost immediately. Don't know why everyone

God of War III - Self-explanatory.
Gran Turismo 5 - Same here...
Gran Turismo Mobile - Dude? This game actually exists? Not that I'm complaining, I love GT.
Heavy Rain - Wasn't too sure at first, but after seeing the demonstration, I'm now totally sold on this game.
The Last Guardian - Team ICO's new game, 'nuff said. This could be the best game of the generation, cannot wait.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - The demo really impressed me. The game looks gorgeous, the new female sidekick is hawt and good old Nate is as hilarious as ever. I. Want. This. Game.
White Knight Chronicles - Level 5's latest RPG. You can make an avatar and stuff and have him join party and transform into a colossal knight, Power Rangers styIe

Another publisher that has announced cool stuff. Their press conference was pretty lame, though. All they did was talk about their new MMO and answer people's stupid questions.

Final Fantasy XIII - Glad it finally got an official North American release date. The English VAs were kind of a turnoff, however...
Final Fantasy XIV Online - Didn't see this one coming! XIII isn;t even out and they've already announced XIV, their newest MMO. I seriously hope it won't have monthly fees.

Assassin's Creed II - I wasn't too excited at first, but now that I've seen the improvements they've made, I'm totally stocked. Swimming, flying, new weapons, double blades, notoriety and economy system... They've improved so much upon the first game. ACII is gonna rock!

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Convition - Sam is back and he's totally pissed. He's gone completely rogue and is now ruthlessly murdering anyone that gets in his way. The new 'Mark & Execute' feature is awesome (And totally overpowered). Another awesome game that I'm highly anticipating.

Now that I listed all the cool stuff, I want to talk about the bad stuff -- the crap. here is the top 5 worst of E3 2009:

5. Joel McHale - His jokes were absolutely terrible. I don't think he even realizes it, but the audience wasn't laughing at his jokes... they were laughing at him.

4. The Ubisoft conference lag - Have you ever tried to watch a video that freezes every 2 seconds? It's horrible. Had to endure that during the whole 1 hour conference. Glitchspot just reached a new low.

3. Project Natal - I just don't get it. Voice and face recognition is neat and all, but what's all this bs about no controllers? We need to move the industry forwards, not backwards. People whine about controllers being too complicated, but the irony is, they can use TV remotes which has 3 times more buttons. I didn't buy my Xbox 360 to do this:

2. Activision sues over Brutal Legend - As you may or may not know, Activision used to be Brutal Legend's publisher. But then, about a year ago they decided that it wasn't worth it and dropped it. The developers then went and found a new developer -- EA. Now, Activision wants it back and filed a lawsuit against EA. What a bunch of crybabies...

1. James Cameron - What part of 'game convention' do you not comprehend? Show us the games or GTFO.

And that's it. *Whew* Looking back, I can't believe I typed all that nonsense. Betcha 5 bucks no one's going to read the whole thing.

Go Atlus! I can't wait for the new Persona PSP game either! Come out sooner! I gotta agree with you on the FFXIV's monthly fees thing. Get rid of it already Square-Enix. And you just lost yourself 5 bucks, 'cos I read the whole ENTIRE thing. Where's my money?

Well, I agree with you mostly. I'm not that hyped for shooters so a little less of those would be in my great stuff. However, good to see the Kojima sneak action, I missed that on the actual live broadcast. I was getting something to drink and all of a sudden I heard that famous sound. I've got to ask though, who was Joel McHale? Was he the host of the Ubisoft PC? I actually thought some of his remarks were pretty funny, though some seemed too studied. But then again, with something as big as the E3, you can't expect improvisations... James Cameron was that director, I believe? That really pissed me off. Who cares 'bout your damn movie? Show us some footage of that oh so great game of yours or get lost. Hmm. I've come to notice the E3 makes me write my longest comments ever. Weird. Anyway, I too can't wait for Persona. I recently got Persona 3 (it's my first) and I absolutely love it. Haven't stopped playing for anything but school and food. And FFXIV! I was like WHAT?! That was perhaps the best moment of the E3 for me. And the funny thing was the Sony host afterwards : "There's one that didn't leak out, huh?"

I think Project Natal is excellent. Maybe one day we'll fully move away from controllers. At the same time I not entirely sure how complex the Milo tech demo was. At this moment I think the device would be best used so far with the facial and voice recognition which has given many so many ideas for games such as Mass Effect, Bioshock, Fable, and The Elder Scrolls.

I personally thing that the gamepad is more complex from the remote. On my second job the one expensive device I sell all the time is HDTVs. People still feel intimidated by the television, and the remote in general. I have customers who can't even do a channel search buy Wiis and enjoy it. Or parents who don't play games enjoy Nintendo's console after getting it for their children(I have a customer who's wife and himself play it late at night when the kid sleep).

The problem is that kids never get the games they actually want to play with the Wii. I had a little girl and her brothers come in wanting SSBB. But because their mother wasn't interested in it they ended up getting Active Games. I also told one customer it was blasphemy to have a Nintendo console and not have a game with Mario in it.

The big question is...will Project Natal be put to good use?

I missed the whole thing. Oh well, I'll watch it all when I get back from Melbourne
Posted Jun 4, 2009 8:36 pm PT
I read it all. Gimme my five bucks!
And also, your pooch is free! So, have you or have you not named him yet? Answer me, darn it.

Alan Wake looks amazing. Now to get those Max Payne games off of XBOX Originals...
Posted Jun 4, 2009 9:00 pm PT
I read most of it. I really liked E3 this year. I wish they would have had some more stuff on I Am Alive during the Ubisoft conference though.
Posted Jun 4, 2009 9:08 pm PT
I'm so far behind on E3, it's not even funny... I still haven't watched the Nintendo and Sony conferences.
Posted Jun 4, 2009 9:37 pm PT
Why'd you put Joel McHale in the crap section?
Posted Jun 5, 2009 2:47 am PT
ofh i read ur whole blog.i only miss microsoft live coverage
Posted Jun 5, 2009 5:44 am PT
natal will help sell the 360 like crazy ending this console war in sales with 360 and Wii close. the more money for 360...a more powerful console can only be a good thing, they aren't scraping controllers, they are just bringing a fun, family entertainment to their system

to say its a step back is wrong, controllers can't last forever. better technology always sells better if it clearly shown (everyone thinks the Wii is so great cause of its controller yet they dont know how much more powerful 360/ps3 is)

LuigiRulze: LMAO

twilightlullaby: Err... er... prove it! Sir_Demii: Yeah, Joel Mchale was the host of the Ubisoft p.c. I don't know, dude. His jokes seemed too forced, like he was desperately trying to find something funny to say.

NeoGen85: It sounds great in concept, but when you actually think about it, there's no way that'll work. First of all, how do you even plan on moving in these games? Do you have to do a running motion or point towards where you want to go? That already feels awkward, doesn't it? And then there's the more specific actions... How are you going to take cover or throw grenades in ME? How are you going to aim, let alone shoot? How are you going to jump, choose a specific plasmid, switch between guns in Bioshock? How are you going to flirt, belch or dance in Fable? You can't have a motion for everything. There's only so much you can do before it starts confusing your movements with something else. We've already seen that a lot on the Wii. How are you going to choose a dialogue in Elder Scrolls? Will they have to program the game to recognize what you say? There are thousands of ways to say something, and in a game with as much dialogue as TES, there's no way they can program the game to recognize most of what you say. And what about the other languages?

There's a reason why they've only shown simple games at the MS p.c., because Project Natal simply wouldn't work on more complicated games.

Bioshockraptor: You're going to miss out on the emblems!

DrAwesomeMD: Okay, fine... *reluctantly gives you 5 bucks* I can tell you, but it'll cost you 5 bucks.

AlmightyMax: I'm more excited about Max Payne 3.

SquareEnixFan13: Yeah, that looked interesting. That's the new game by Jade Raymond, right?

JustPlainLucas: Aww... that sucks. Hope you can download the Nintendo and Sony conferences soon.

thrubeingcool13: Oh, my bad... you're right: I should have put him in the uber crap section.

smart-cobra: Argh... then I must give you five bucks.

Flipyap28: Except the people that Microsoft is targeting does not want nor care about a more powerful console. They're satisfied with their Wii Sports and whatnot. The Wii remote came for free, can Microsoft pack Natal for free with every Xbox 360? If not, their attempt already failed. And as I already explained to NeoGen, I do not believe Project Natal will bring anything interesting to the 'hardcore'. It may be more advanced technology than a controller, but it also lets you do less. if you were a Wii owner, you would know that.

Great list man, other than JRPGs which i am not into it. You and I have very similar taste. Sine I have only 1 console, I have to do it with sony conference. The thing they lacked in their conference was major firmware update.
Posted Jun 5, 2009 11:03 am PT
Is this it? Nothing else? Geez Gamer, I thought you were going to tell me something worthwhile.
Posted Jun 5, 2009 5:08 pm PT
I read the whole thing, you owe me 5 bucks, I accept paypal. Anyways, I'm just happy that Sin & Punishment 2 was there at e3. That and Oboro Muramasa are like the only games I'm really highly excited for.
Posted Jun 6, 2009 9:03 am PT
Grr, fine! * Throws back the 5 bucks*
Posted Jun 6, 2009 11:07 am PT
funny natal clip!

Nice impression man I definitely have to get a PSP this year to get my hands on the Persona RM or just get my hands on a SMT game in general ,things I have to say about the RE PSP game is it was reported that from Capcom it is not a remake its an entirely new title thats being worked closely with Sony maybe the Survival Horror genre isn't dead yet!
and on another note yes I did read the whole thing
Posted Jun 12, 2009 8:25 pm PT
Gamer_4_Fun: Yeah, that would have been nice. I'm still waiting for my in-game custom soundtrack update!

mprezzy: What are you talking about? My blogs were never worthwhile to begin with.

grafkhun: Here you are, 5 deers. Enjoy.

DrAwesomeMD: Yay moneez.

pecan50: It's almost as epic as Ravi Drums from last year.

Spartan-1775: I thought you had a PSP? And dammit, I guess that's another 5 bucks for you.
