Why am I here, and why do I have to post negative blogs about this site, versus ones praising how things are going here?

I wake up every day expecting to see improvements here. Maybe even seeing the bugs being fixed. Instead, I’ve seen months go by where this site steadily craters! On the current bug (of many bugs), Snide blogs the problem is fixed. Two days later, the problem has not been fixed. Thanks Snide(?).

People are leaving. Ok, the really good ones never came over (like Faris). They could see that TV Tome was gone and nothing would replace it. The were correct.

This (tv.com) site reinforces my admiration of John and what he accomplished with TV Tome, versus what the mighty CNET was able to completely fail at. I love the blog feature. however I would gladly give it up to get a TV Tome “like” site back.

Digger3000 is working on a replacement site, and I recommend everyone here help his site out. My view of Digger3000 has taken a 180 degree turn, after seeing his site [http://betaboards.gotdns.com/teleguides/all_shows.php]. We’ll always disagree on his lost “carry over” TV Tome points here, but since their gone for all of us now, what the hey, I say. Yeah, maybe he’s right, maybe someone who loves this stuff should be allowed to fix it, versus people who just clock in every day. Ouch!

I want to really express my feelings about this site, but my manners prohibit it. I will congratulate John though. The best business deal one can do is to sell one’s company to an idiot, then buy it back later for a much reduced price, after they have screwed it up. That’s business genius! Yes, I’m saying that John and a revamped TV Tome will reappear once his non-compete clause with CNET expires. And yes, I don’t think the PTB can ever get this site fixed.

I agree when i first came here i thought it was rubbish then they started to get their act together and it got slightly better but now its just in limbo again with more bugs showing up. Fu is the only person i know who is saying what is on his mind about this site most people are just saying it ill get better i used to think that it would but now i really i doubt this. I have been submitting a ton of data and the rankings system is just pathetic it hasnt changed in a week or so levels arnt changing and show scores arnt changing either. I tried to start making a site like tvt but the effort that is required to get it going and be enthused to do it after this is very hard at the moment. I hope digger3000 gets his site going and digger if you read this i will be glad to help in anyway i can.

I think the biggest problem TV.com has is pretty simple: not enough staff. They have some good features/ideas but if the staff are continually pulled away to work at other projects/sites, this place suffers....

I'd like to think that this place will get better....I think, in another month or so, we will see once and for all the truth in that wish....

Go to Digger3000's site. It works, it will be the TV Tome replacement. Sorry tv.com. I am no longer worried about being banned here.

After today, I'm starting to agree with you Fu. This site is falling apart as we speak, and in the end, I might give up and move on, as well as many other big contributors here.

Well I can gain some comfort from that idea because if that does happen, then it means there is a point to continuing to maintain these guides on TV.com.

And I agree with maritimer00. There is no sense in pulling staff off a site which is in a buggy condition, to do something else to a site which otherwise would be working fine. I'm sure the staff themselves resent not being able to complete their work.

I know what you mean, I used to visit this site everyday. But due to the numerous bugs and such, I have spent less & less time here.
Even thought I finally became an editor, something I thought I wanted, it doesn’t really matter since no one contributes to my show. I have several other sites that I visit more frequently, that are much like this, and I’m an editor for several shows. While those sites don’t have the much loved forum feature, it makes up for it by lack of bugs and a lot more communication between the staff & the editors.

Very well said, Steve. Thanks for the link to Digger's site. I might check it out.

I also doubt this site will ever live up to its potential. Too much glitz. Not enough content. TVTome concentrated on the content.

TV Tome was a bare bones, no frills site. It had no glitz and no glitter but it did have a lot of substance as well as people who cared. TV.com has concentrated on the fluff and the glitter and has forgotten what made TV Tome so popular to begin with.

Yeah, use Digger3000's site.

No glitz.
No frills.
No ads.
No bugs*.

*There are bugs, but they don't take forever to fix.

Digger3000 is right. I have joined his site. I am now lost in the bliss of creating guides again! The only bugs I have seen there, have not been bugs, but have just been about my learning curve there. Ouch on me!

His site IS cool. He’s putting together a site with the best of the things at TV Tome and what should have been good ideas here, but were HORRIBLY screwed up. It’s a work in progress, yes; but I like being in at the beginning on sites like his. This is different than it is here, where adding new Ad features, over fixing the bugs, is the priority. Levels and CPs bugs aren’t being fixed, but hey I can see ad videos on show guides now! I really wanted that feature, too! Dial-up users must be really happy about this now.

This post may get me in trouble with the PTB here, but I’m pretty sure I don’t care anymore. I now have a user friendly site I can go to (been going to).

My question is: now that mp3.com is up and running, will they pull staff from that site to help get this one bug-free and working as it should?

I haven't given up here yet, and the site HAS potential. It just seems nobody is working here, and the few staff that do suck at it. Then they write about other projects. Why are they in other projects if this site needs to much attention. Features have never worked properly, and never get looked at. Why? They don't care? It's really hard to edit things, so the only really working thing is submitting stuff to episodes, if not buggy at times, therefore the info is on the site and that's all that matters. Dumb. And then they don't leave the editors alone, accept lousy contributions before it gets looked at by somebody who knows the show. Bad idea, always will be a bad idea and yet they don't see that it is, and continue doing so.

Maybe the site will work things out, get better by next year.

I just think if somebody like Gislef would leave , the whole site would break down. It's really a miracle it hasn't totally screwed up and no staff "fixed" it in a mere few weeks (it takes that long to even acknowledge bugs!!)
