Title:... I have no idea where that came from
.
Grr third time writing this... I hate you tv.com. Kidding. Love you! Don't delete me.
Blogging again. I remember what I wanted to say. I finished 24 S7 and Desperate Housewives S5. 24 was miles better than S6. Tony was back! (and Michelle was on Lost this season!) Still, I think it's about time for 24 to call it a night. 7 seasons is enough. Desperate Housewives was disappointing (apart from the 100th episode). We could figure out the mystery after 6 episodes and I hate that Dave didn't kill anyone in the end. What a letdown. The only housewive who shined this season was Gaby. A friend downloaded One Tree Hill S6 on my computer and as long as it's there I might as well watch it. I'm sure that if I fast forward all the Lucas, Nathan, Haley, Peyton, Jamie, Skills, Deb, Dan, Karen, Mia and Mouth parts it'll be fun.

Here's that link I promised
.
I'm posting my Memminees cause I feel like writing a long blog but I'm too lazy to be all original. My choices:
2009 Memmy Awards Categories:
A. Most Memorable Guest Star Performance in a Comedy Series (Male or Female)
1. Amy Ryan (The Office)
2. Lily Tomlin (Desperate Housewives)
3. Scott Bakula (Chuck)
4. Michael Clarke Duncan (Chuck)
5. John Larroquette (Chuck)
6. Debra Mooney (Pushing Daisies)
Motivation: Amy Ryan was great addition to the cast this season. Michael and Holly were the perfect imperfect couple. Lily Tomlin was hilarious as Mrs McCluskey's sister (McCluskey was awesome too this season). There has been talk of a spin-off with those two and that sounds like a show I could love even more than Desperate Housewives. I could've easily filled all the spots with Chuck guest stars. And Debra Mooney (Everwood!) as Emerson Cod's PI mother? Nice!
B. Most Memorable Guest Star Performance in a Drama Series (Male or Female)
1. Nestor Carbonell (Lost)
2. Fionnula Flanagan (Lost)
3. Jeff Fahey (Lost)
4. Sonya Walger (Lost)
5. Phil Morris (Smallville)
6. Ellen Burstyn (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit)
Motivation: This one was difficult so went with Lost. I'm really crushing on Richard these days, Fionnula Flanagan - who btw once starred in a movie called The Others!! -, I knew she would return
. Frank is the only character on Lost who has never been a dumbass and Penny is still part of one of the best lovestories of all time. The Martian Manhunter/ John Jones is one of the 2 Smallville characters I like and while (unpopular opinion) I didn't really like Swing, Ellen Burstyn was great.
C. Most Memorable Male Performance in a Comedy Series
1. Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother)
2. Chi McBride (Pushing Daisies)
3. Zachary Levi (Chuck)
4. Adam Baldwin (Chuck)
5. Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies)
6. Alec Baldwin (30 Rock)
Motivation: Don't have to explain NPH. Emerson has some of the best lines ever (example; "Where's that rats ass I could give?") Chuck and Casey are both awesome, especially in scenes together. Lee Pace was so cute as awkward, nervous Ned and nobody plays a slick business man like Alec Baldwin
D. Most Memorable Female Performance in a Comedy Series
1. Kristen Chenoweth (Pushing Daisies)
2. Tina Fey (30 Rock)
3. Swoosie Kurtz (Pushing Daisies)
4. Anna Friel (Pushing Daisies)
5. Eva Longoria-Parker (Desperate Housewives)
6. Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck)
Motivation: Singing or not. Kristen Chenoweth rules! Liz Lemon was just as funny as she was last year and I can never get enough of bitter, drunk, snarking Aunt Lily. I will miss Anna Friel as CCC (Charlotte "Chuck" Charles) and like I said, Gaby shined this season. As for Yvonne... I needed six. No seriously, she was really good.
E. Most Memorable Male Performance in a Drama Series
1. Michael C. Hall (Dexter)
2. Michael Emerson (Lost)
3. Jon Hamm (Mad Men)
4. Sam Witwer (Smallville)
5. Terry O'Quinn (Lost)
6. Josh Holloway (Lost)
Motivation: I think it's about time Michael C. Hall wins an Emmy for his performance as Dexter. Ben was not as evil as he was in previous years but Michael Emerson still scared the bejezus out of me. Jon Hamm is the heart of Mad Men and Sam Witwer was so good as Davis Bloom this season that he actually got me to root for the bad guy. Terry O'Quinn has been the best actor on Lost since the beginning and Josh Holloway played Sawyer's transformation from Sawyer to LaFleur back to Sawyer perfectly.
F. Most Memorable Female Performance in a Drama Series
1. Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost)
2. Allison Mack (Smallville)
3. January Jones (Mad Men)
4. Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men)
5. Sophia Bush (One Tree Hill)
6. Annie Wersching (24)
Motivation: Wondering why I nominated Elizabeth Mitchell? Well, then haven't watched the Lost finale. Can't say I loved what they did with/to Chloe this season but Allison was amazing. Apart from Jon Hamm, two actors who really stand out on Mad Men are January Jones and Elisabeth Moss. Brooke is the only good thing OTH still has going and I liked Annie Wersching's character instantly.
G. Most Memorable Fantabulous Phenomensational Moment!!!
1. Juliet detonates the H-bomb (Lost)
2. Hurley and Miles discuss time travel (Lost)
3. Ben stops Locke from killing himself, and then murders him (Lost)
4. Esau and Jacob (Lost)
5. Smokey Alex confronts Ben (Lost)
6. Desmond beats Ben after he tries to kill Penny (Lost)
Motivation: I know I OD'd with Lost, love is never rational kids! Lots of Ben moments because everything he does is brilliant and everything he says is creepy. I've watched the cold opening of the season finale over and over. Miles and Hurley should have their own sitcom to talk about timetravel and Star Wars. And this way I could nominate Lost in the comedy category (right, Mack
). And the #1 was heartbreaking and asskicking.
H. Most Memorable Imprestacular Marvelen-wait-for-it-dary Episode!!!
1. Dead is Dead (Lost)
2. Broke (The Office)
3. The Funcooker (30 Rock)
4. The Incident (Lost)
5. The Naked Man (How I Met Your Mother)
6. The Best Thing That Ever Could Have (Desperate Housewives)
Motivation: Ben and centrics are a combination that never fails. Speaking of brilliance, Broke was one of those rare episodes where Michael displayed intellligence. The Funcooker was so funny with the courtroom scenes and Liz almost killing everybody. I still talk about the Incident daily and it aired almost 2 months ago. The Naked Man; "two out of three"
The 100th episode wasn't as good as "Bang" but still very memorable. Love Mary-Alice episodes.
I. Most Memorable Comedy Series
1. Pushing Daisies
2. Chuck
3. The Office
4. 30 Rock
5. How I Met Your Mother
6. Scrubs
Motivation: Pushing Daisies is no more ![]()
![]()
. Chuck has comedy, drama, action and brilliant guest stars. The Office, 30 Rock and HIMYM have had better seasons but the're still the best comedies on tv. It was the final season of Scrubs (spin-off won't work) and that show made me laugh and cry. Sometimes both.
J. Most Memorable Drama Series
1. Lost
2. Dexter
3. Mad Men
4. Breaking Bad
5. 24
6. CSI
Motivation: In case you haven't noticed, I'm quite fond of Lost. Dexter, MM and BB all fall under the 'dark shows with messed up characters' category and I'm really in to that at the moment. 24 and CSI were good/okay. All the other drama's I watch were a little too disappointing so didn't want to nominate them.
Special Awards:
· Most Memorable Ensemble Cast Award
1. Pushing Daisies
2. Lost
3. 30 Rock
Motivation: Not one character I don't like on PD (that's rare), same goes for Lost (well, almost). And there's a reason 30 Rock is one of the most popular comedies on tv. Strong cast.
· In-Memory-Of Character/Character Death Award (Posthumous)
1. Juliet Burke (Lost)
2. Daniel Faraday (Lost)
3. John Locke (Lost)
Motivation: I just read an interview with Jack Bender that pretty much confirmed Juliet is really dead. So I guess we're back to the Jack/Kate/Sawyer triangle next season. And now I feel like I've been passively watching a dogfight (Jate and Skate) for four years. And then they show me this beautiful puppy (Suliet) and then they shoot the puppy in the head. Bitter? Noooooo. Dannyboy and John will missed too. But we still have Un-Locke.
· Just Plain Awsh Peepsie Achievement Award (JPAPA)
1. Christina Applegate
2. Lauren Graham
3. Allison Mack
Motivation: I really admire Christina Applegate for what she went through with her breast cancer and how she dealt with it. Haven't seen LG in more than 2 years but she was robbed of an Emmy for 7 years. Sometimes I read Allison Mack's blog and she seems like a cool, down to earth person.
Go vote if you haven't already!

PS. I won't be around much next week. More exams and Thursday it's my Birthday! I'm turning 18. Now I can drink, drive, vote, join the army, pay taxes and be an upstanding citizen/ member of society. Yaaaaay!
Seriously, what's up with tv.com today? They/he/it keeps throwing me out. I've had to log in about 9 times today. It's irritating.
Wasn't around much last week. This can be blamed on a combination of exams and a heat wave. Those two don't mix well. Sorry for missing out on blogs. But I think I'll be around more after next week.
Finished Chuck S2. The thought that the show was renewed for a third season makes me smile
. Y'know what I love most about Chuck? Apart from the comedy and the surreal action. The guest stars. Most of them are famous and probably a way of upping those ratings. Lots of shows do this. (30 Rock comes to mind). But on Chuck it's different. Here, the guest stars actually add something to the show and at the same time, don't hogg all the screentime. (CSI comes to mind). That's pretty special.
Working my way through Dexter S2/S3 and Breaking Bad S1/S2. More about them later.
IMPORTANT: Don't forget to cast your votes for the Memmy Award Nominations on Mack's (mackymacaspac) blog. I'll link you in the next blog. I'm afraid he might throw me out again.
... I had more to say. I forgot. That's gonna annoy me for the rest of the day. If I remember, I'll edit.

Title: Juliet, Lost
I'm checking out a bunch of pilots; the quality of most shows I watch is going down a little. So, I'll need something new next season;
Merlin: The British Smallville set in medieval times. Retelling of a legend with lots of teenage angst. Honestly, early Smallville kicks this shows butt. Bad dialogue, contrived fights and bratty teens. The script simply isn't good enough to keep watching.
My grade: 4/10... It was nice seeing Giles again though.

Dollhouse: It has an interesting premise and a lot of potential. However... it feels like some of these characters have been done before. And I don't mean Amy Acker's character and Fred;
- Echo - Buffybot
- Langton - Giles
- Topher - The Trio
- Victor - Doyle
- Adelle DeWitt - Lilah Morgan
- Alpha - only saw his back so there's not much to go on. His name is Alpha so I'm assuming he is/was a doll who apparently went rogue. Okay, good guy who went evil and is now stalking our leading lady. Where have I heard that one before??... Angelus.
I'm not saying they're identical, but they're not very original. Supposedly Dollhouse got better mid-season so I'm skipping the first 5 episodes, maybe I'll like it more. Hopefully Amy's acting can save it. Don't think it's ever going to outrank Buffy or Angel on my list.
My grade: 6/10

Castle: If Castle ever comes to the Dutch television, I'm going to recommend it to my mother. She'll love it. Me? Well, sort of. Not the most original show ever. It's pretty much carried by the chemistry between the two leads. I might keep watching because despite all of that, it's entertaining.
My grade: 7/10

Mad Men: The ultimate narcotic addicts fantasy. Set in New York City in the 1960s, before women liberation. Back when the economy wasn't such a sensitive subject. The pace is really slow and that's why Mad Men is not for everyone. This show won't give you an adrenaline kick. It's about wonderful flawed characters and sharp dialogue. The visuals are stunning, you really feel like you're back in the '60s. I think it's save to say that this one will be a keeper.
My grade: 9/10
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My dvd collection:
Re-organized them. Normally my dvds are all scattered around the house. Certain family members - who totally judge me for watching so much tv - keep borrowing them.
Alphabetical Order:
- Angel: S1 - S4 (was the proud owner of S5 for 9 days. Long story.)
- Bones: S1
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer: S1 - S7
- Charmed: S5 - S6
- CSI: the episode Gravedanger, the bonusmaterial includes the pilot of CSI: NY
- Desperate Housewives: S1 - S2
- Dexter: S1
- Friends: S1 - S10
- Gilmore Girls: S1 - S5
- Law & Order: Criminal Intent: S1
- Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: S1 - S3
- Lost: S1 - S3
- The Office: S1 - S3
- One Tree Hill: S3
- Pushing Daisies: S1
- Smallville: S1 - S4, S6 (which I bought for the episode Justice
) - Veronica Mars: S1
That's 50 seasons (+ 1 episode), 290 dvds. I should open up some kind of store. How many (tv) dvds do you guys own?
First one: Friends S7
The ones I watch the most: there's a reason I can quote almost every single line from Friends.
The ones I watch the least: L&O: Criminal Intent; bought that one on an impulse that I regret a little.
My favorites: Lost S1, Buffy S3, Dexter S1, The Office S2 and Veronica Mars S1
Last one: It's been more than a year... Angel S4 or Pushing Daisies
The ones I want to own in the nearby future:
- Everwood S1; Had to wait 5 years but it's finally here!! Be patient and you shall be rewarded. I heard S2 finally got out in the US. Hopefully I won't have to wait 5 years again.
- Dead Like Me S1/S2
- How I Met Your Mother S1
- Angel S5 (again)
- Veronica Mars S2
- Lost S4
- Pushing Daisies S2
- Gilmore Girls S6/ S7; I'll fast forward through certain parts
It might be a while before I blog again. Next week I've got 2 presentations, an Economics test and a Spanish oral exam... and that's just Monday.
Anne
PS. RIP Farah Fawcett & Michael Jackson
