... I play GTA San Andreas...
Yeah, I hadn't comleted a few last missions (I think) so I started it all over again 'coz I don't have any other to play and I can't let my vacation waste can I?
But I faced a problem. While I can install GTA SA on the both OSes on my PC (2000 & XP) I could start playing it only on 2000. Dunno why, but when I try to play it on XP it gives its normal error of unexpected behaviour thingy and the app had to close, also giving that Debug button. I tried again and again and even tried to run it with compatibility as 2000, but it didn't work. Do you guys know why it works on 2000 and not on XP?
I had recently transformed my XP to look like Vista (a complete transformation pack, changed everything, icons, themes, windows, sounds, stuff). B4 my GTA SA worked perfectly. Could the whole transformation be responsible for this thing?
If you have any ideas please comment them. Would highly appreciate ur help for playing on XP rather than restarting to 2000 whenver I want to play! ![]()
Thanx,
Firoze!
EDIT - My GTA SA works!!
I had an idea! I went and downloaded a No DVD patch for the game and copied it into the directory of the game and it worked in a jiffy!!!
I didn't think it might work! It's amazing that now I'll be able to retain the Vista look and play right on my XP!!
What's more, I can now remove the DVD from the drive, and no need to have it everytime I play!
Thanx!

you will have to definitely upgrade your system soon, coz you know GTAIV will come to pc AND... MAFIA II!
Reetesh- Yeah, I know that, so I thought I should go and buy an X360 rather than upgrading and all that. Can I play on X360 by attaching it to the monitor, coz I don't have a TV!
Viveck- Yeah, I too had to try out 2-3 times to make it work!
San Andreas? Heck, I still play Vice City!
..When I first tried GTA SA out with my XP, it worked perfectly.. Then I changed to Vista, and surprise surprise, it messed the thing up.
The saddest of all (or funniest) is that Mr. Gates himself said Vista was designed for gaming.
..Can't wait for Windows 7. >.> and yes I'm an extreme geek.

And no it doesn't effect the speed much at all as I am using it fine, and my computer's doing pretty fast! I have 512 RAM and 128 Video RAM (Fx 5200) GPU and even with such simple hardware the Vista look runs cool!
Also you should disable the third party apps that will be installed with this pack. They will ask u if u wanna install that and u may say no as they are the ones that take up huge computer memory. I just selected them and deleted them from my Program Files or you can let them remain and just remove them from startup. They are small in size very. U might keep em if you wanna impress someone once in a while when they sit on your comp though!
