Spore was a good game, but I believe that it could be much better than it was. The expansion, Spore Galactic Adventures, comes out on March 17th of this year. I have high hopes for game, although I do not think that it will be a perfect game. If I were to outline my own perfect Spore game, this is what it would be:
For the cell stage, I would have there be a more 3 dimensional playing platform that would allow for better movement. I would also make more different types of food sources, and make a better combat system. The cell part of the game was good to begin with, and there's hardly anything else I would improve on that part.
For the creature stage, I would have a better combat system made so that it would be easier to fight effectively. I would also make a way for your creature to actually fight an epic creature so you could win. On the diplomatic side, I would make several other ways to gain an alliance with other tribes so that it wouldn't be as complicated depending on the type of creature. I would also expand the diplomacy so that there could be more use to the alliances and an better way to use tactics and complete the objectives.
For the tribal stage, I would again, have a better combat system and diplomatic system. I would have it so that there would be a larger variety of weapons available to your tribe. I would also make alliances come into more use by having the ability to create war alliances, have protection pacts, and a more organized system of territories. I would also make different types of currency that could be used instead of just food. I would also make the currency be able to be used through trade.
For the civilization stage, I would create a different variety of troops that could be used in combat. I would also create more different ways to conquer the various cities. I would also give you more power to manipulate how the cities are constructed and how they look. I would also make the economic ways of this stage of the game better. I would have a lot more different types of resources, and different ways to trade. I would have it so that you could assassinate leaders, plot sabatoges and hostile takeovers, as well as the ability to stir up rebellions in another country. I would also build a tactic board where you could plan out your attacts in the game. I would also increase the use of tactics and give the player the ability to use more subterfuge in the game. Finally I would give a larger editor to creating weapontry that would allow for construction of personal weapons in warfare.
For the space stage, I would make it so that the user has more thant one spaceship. They can produce their own different types of ships or hire mercenaries or pirates to help them. I would also have them be able to land on any planet and be able to fight on the planet using RTS, 1st person shooter, or both. I would also have alliances create more of an effect in war, and create a ways to make underground resistence groups aginist you enemy. On the economic side, I would have the person be able to have currency outside of sporebucks and spices, and optionally be able to have inflation and economic problems that would make trouble for your empire. A lot of the things that I would change about the civilization stage I would also change about the space stage, but I only detailed them on the civilization section.
I would also like there to be a more broad form of multipayer, maybe where your creature is given a weapon and you fight different creatures in a CoD5 setup style. There could also be a multiplayer with an RTS setup that could be like Company of Heroes in its style. I also think that I would have a campaign in the game as well so that there would be a more controlled, more unique aspect to the game if some players are bored.
