GAMES: GameSpot GameFAQs MOVIES: Metacritic Movietome Comic-Con

Interesting, my first blog post outside of TV.com. Apparently there is a new CNet website; FilmSpot. It seems pretty cool- you can choose your own icon, choose your favorite movies and rate them out of 5 stars, post on the forums, etc. What I like the best is the movie trailers. The one thing that sets apart from some of the other CNet sites is how the levels work; I haven't quite figured out how it works yet. I think only blog posts and maybe forum posts level you up. Oh well, it's not important. All in all, though, it's a pretty cool site, definitely worth checking out.

In other news, it's midterm season! If it weren't, I would've posted a Christmas blog by now. I was delighted with my haul this year; a GameCube, four games (SSX Tricky, Soul Calibur 2, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Super Monkey Ball 2), and an iPod nano (3 gigabytes). Oh, and some toffees. No socks, thank goodness. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to play the GameCube much because we have midterms next week. Every day I've been doing at least an hour of studying for each subject. However, a friend of mine is having a party next Saturday to celebrate the end of the midterms. So there is a light at the end of the tunnel, after all (especially because he has a Wii)

Also, I'm glad TV.com has finally caught up with the other 3 sites and now allows us to customize our own icons. Fun fun! Well, I hope everyone has a good weekend, because I'll be stuck inside studying. Oh well, it'll be worth it to ace them all...hopefully...

Wow, it's almost Christmas. Time for snow and fires and icicles and stuff like that... right? Because that doesn't really happen when it's almost 70 degrees.

Last year it snowed in the first week of December. It's almost Christmas, and we haven't gotten a single flake. I live in Maryland, so snow shouldn't be a rare occurance. This year, however, it looks like things are changing. If I can walk to the library in a t-shirt and light pants a week before Christmas, what does that mean about the chances of it snowing? I'm almost afraid to know the answer. Also, we've barely had any rain this entire month. Basically, it's either been cloudy enough for it to snow, but too warm, or cold enough for it to snow, but bright and sunny. First the curse of the turkey, and now this? Happy holidays to you too, you ****ing weather!

I know for a fact that this is a true story. Er...mainly because it happened to me.

My sister currently lives in New York, where she works for an online food magazine. On Wednesday, she ate some bad scallops and got food poisoning. She was planning to come home Thursday (Thanksgiving) around 11 in the morning. She called us that morning around 6 to tell us she had, unfortunately, been throwing up all night. She was still planning to come home, though. My dad got out of bed about an hour later because he said the smell of the paint was bothering him (they had their room painted on Wed.). By around 10, he realized he had a bad cold and a sore throat. My sister came home an hour and a half later and promptly went to sleep. My dad did the same. By the time they woke up, it was 2 in the afternoon. We were supposed to leave to go to a family friend's house for dinner in an hour.

It turned out they weren't up to going. Ironically enough, they were the ones that really wanted to go; I would have preferred to have had a family Thanksgiving. So, the moral of the story is that if you eat too much turkey, its' spirit will forever curse you and your predecessors to have a mediocre Thanksgiving. Keep that in mind when you eat your turkey leftovers...

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
This was an amazing movie. Johnny Depp makes a hilarious pirate, Orlando Bloom makes a serious but witty and loving Will Turner, and Keira Knightley is great as Elizabeth. The plot was entertaining and thrilling, and of course, who can resist the...

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
I'm afraid this movie was just too action packed. It was stuffed with it so every scene had at least one fight or giant sea monster. The storyline was mediocre at best, highly confusing, and even more unrealistic. It was frustrating to watch the...

Mrs. Doubtfire
This is a classic, and it's a great family movie. It's about a man who gets divorced because he's not serious enough. He loses over custody of the kids, so in order to keep seeing them, he disguises himself as a woman so he can pose as their...

Finding Nemo
This is a cute family movie. I enjoyed it a lot, and it's a great kid movie. Dory provided hilarious comic relief, and Nemo and his dad were both great. It was highly imaginative, and really original. I loved it, and I think people of all ages can...
