I know a lot of people have mixed feelings on the subject of Yaoi and MPreg, or Male Pregnancy, and I am no exception. While I will never bash anyone who enjoys working with these subjects, I myself will probably never write them. However, I will give my opion on the subjects.
With Yaoi or a romance involving two men, I must say it really depends on the couple for me. If I can look at the characters and think 'yeah, maybe they are homosexual or at least bisexual". An example of this is Frieza and Evil Buu from Dragonball Z. However, if I look at the couple and at least one is obviously (in my eyes) straight, I will not support the pairing. An example of this is Greed/Kimblee from Fullmetal Alchemist. While I do think Kimblee is in love with men, Greed is quite obviously straight. Also, in the case of that pairing, I can't stand it cause the people who write it often make Greed really cheesy and lovey-dovey to Kimblee, even putting the alchemist above himself and the chimeras.
Now for MPreg. My only issue with this is the fact that so few people explain how it works. Like, in some cases it works. In some instances it works because neither parent has the body structure of a human- Frieza/Evil Buu or Cosmo in Fairly Oddbaby. Or in the case of Ed/Roy MPreg for FMA, Ed could have been given female reproductive organs while passing through the gate. However, in some stories they don't even try to explain how a man got pregnant. Once again, I'm using Greed/Kimblee as an example. This doesn't work for two main reasons. 1. They never explain how Kimblee could get pregnant, despite being a male. 2. Homunculi are supposed to be sterile. I worked my way around this by making them potent for only one day a year, so don't use this evidence against me. 3
People are always asking me why a think certain people make a good couple. So here's some hints and info I've seen in the show for Greed/Marta. The next pairing will be Scar/Lust.
Greed/Marta: This pairing seems to be more based on Marta's feelings towards Greed, though based on episode 34, it may be neutral. Not to mention it's more or less the Royai of the "villain" world, with Greed being the commanding officer and Marta being the tough female subordinate. Now for some more hints (in my opinion).
Episode 30- When Greed is shown on the couch, Marta is behind him. Look at her face- looks sorta jealous, don't she?
Episode 33- Marta is the only one of the subordinates who actually refers to Greed by name, instead of Boss or Sir. Also, Greed really seems sorry when he accidently injures her while she's inside Al.
Episode 34- Greed's apparent first thought was Marta's safety before he goes to confront Dante. Seeing as he thought she was still in the old woman body, it's doubtful he thought he would loose, but he still want her to stay safe. He also refers to her as "Doll" at one point, possibly signifying a deeper relationship than simply superior/subordinate.
The major hint is the similarity to Royai- a somewhat laidback flirtatious superior and the loyal, strong subordinate.
The first small hint is based more on a person's own views, to me she looked jealous for some reason or another.
Episode 33 Hints- For the first one, I know that Law and Dorochette refer to him by name as does that one dude who got killed before Kimblee blew the wall. However, when they say it, they're/he's in danger. When Marta says it, she sounds somewhat worshipful and posibly something deeper. The second, Greed maybe more humane than the other Homunculi, but he seems to have little concern for when he hurts others. Despite this, he really appears apologetic when he says, "Sorry, about that Marta. I forgot you were keeping house".
34 Hints- It was proven that Greed didn't know that Dante had skipped souls from his last words before the array that drained his energy began to effect him. So...why not let Marta come with him if he thought Dante was still an old lady? Well, he knew she was an expert at alchemy, and if she didn't simply do what happened in the episode, that the alchemy would have almost no effect on him. He could however, effect Marta and possibly injure her. In other words, he was watching out for her.
Some people would argue that the "Doll" comment can also be used to support Greed/Izumi. However, it's the way their delivered. The Izumi-"Doll" is more of a mockery of her fighting- ("I already told you I don't bruise easily. Don't you listen, Doll?") Whereas when he says it Marta, he seems more serious- "Greed...what're you gonna do?" "Can't really get into it, Doll. The talking's done"
Is it just me or have the standards for children's movies dropped in the past ten years or so?
I mean on Nick Jr. they used to have a great host (Face) and educational/fun shows (Gullah Gullah Island, Blue Clues with Steve, Little Bill). Now the only show I can ever stand watching in Miss Spider.
Same with movies- when I was younger and I watched movies on kid's channels they'd play great movies with awesome songs- Lucky and Zorba, Brave Little Toaster, Lilo and Stitch, etc.
Now they have so much crap on these channels that they never show the old favorites of many people.
