As you well know, there are several potential "big hit" titles this year. If you could pick one game this year, what would it be? As for me, I would have to pick Fable 2. As much as I would love to get my hands on Gears of War 2, Too Human, or the new Prince of Persia installment, I would love it more if I can dive into the world of Fable 2. From the looks of it, Fable 2 looks immersive with lush and highly detailed environments, and wonderful NPCs that embody this fantasty world. I know for sure that I'll be forever lost in its immersiveness. It is going to be one of those games that I'll be playing from hours on end.

Well, MGS4 is what I'm happy with.

If I had to choose one, it would be MGS4.

However, I'm still getting Resistance 2, and LBP this year.

Next year will be FFXIII

Well, for some reason, I've been in the DS mood, so I'd pick Chrono Trigger; oh, congrats on leveling up to 21 tomorrow haha.

For this year, I think GTA IV would be my pick since I already know it's a good game and enjoyed it a lot. If I had to choose something newer I'd go with Mirror's Edge.

One Game with so many great titles? As you know TR Underworld would be my personal choice, but because of its mulitplayer design and replayability, I will have to go with Gears of War 2.

Hm too hard! I'd flip a coin between Too human and Fable 2. Either of those games look extremely epic. Although i've promised myself to refuse to buy newer releases. I've got $120 for games and $50 for xbl. I'm going to use eBay and get whatever good older games that i've missed.

To be quite honest Elann,if not a single good game were to come out for the rest of this this year,MGS4 would have already quenched my thirst. Nevertheless,I would have love to have said Killzone for the PS3,but since that's not slated until early next year,I'll have to say Gears Of War 2.

Everything pales after MGS4.
Posted Jul 3, 2008 7:05 pm PT
MGS4 unless Enix releases FFXIII in the US this year.

Hazelnutman: I'm definitely pickin up La Resistance! *French accent* and LBP. FFXIII will pretty much annihilate everything in existence.

Imakillaholic: I loved Chrono Trigger for SNES. Too bad I dont have a DS. Lol, thanks, I think a couple of posts should level me up.

Strife88: Mirror's Edge, great choice. Is it going to come out this year? They really made it sound like it was. Well, I hope so. Looks like ME is going to have a huge environment. Cant wait.

WalkingP: Gears of War 2 looks amazing. I agree, too many games so it's a tough choice. If I had to pick a shooter, it would be Gears of War 2, hands down.

Craigalan23: You'll have plenty to choose from with the older games. That's what I pretty much did when I got my Xbox 360 after Christmas. Now, I pretty much just rent games that score under 9.0 with the research that I do along with it. I dont totally base my decision on scores. I go with review, research, and gut feeling. But big hit titles like Gears of War 2 or Fable 2 is a must buy. But I'm really putting myself out there for Too Human. It's either a hit or miss. Previews are already bashing the game pretty bad. The only thing they pointed out that made me feel a bit quirky was the camera. That can easily ruin a great game. eBay is pretty awesome just for buying games. I wouldnt recommend buying anything else on there though.

Darrenfps: Gears of War 2 seems to be the prime choice. Haha. I dont blame you guys. I still think Gears of War is the best Xbox 360 exclusive today, and right up there with MGS4 in terms of all-time favorite. Gears of War is one of those games, I can pick up and play again and I'll never get bored. I dont know why but yeah. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed looks incredible. Graphics, physics, and gameplay looks slick. Check it out. I'm picking it up day one as well.

Greengoblin: MGS4 was amazing. I have to play it again once I get another PS3, lol. I have to relive the breathtaking moments of MGS4 again. I find it hard for any new game coming out this year to top MGS4. But they can try.

Symphonycometh: I'll do backflips if Final Fantasy XIII came out this year. I'll even youtube it. Haha jk. I'm exaggerating but it would be stellar!

Yes it would...But I'm hoping on empty!
Posted Jul 4, 2008 1:53 am PT
I bought COD4 this year and ive played the heck out of it so if I only was able to get 1 it would have to be that.
Posted Jul 4, 2008 4:56 am PT
Elann: True some games i'll have to purchase but unless it's totally epic i'll save it for another day. I need to buy so many games currently it's not even funny. Also multiplayer games are starting to annoy me lol. I need better singleplayer games so the great games need to come rolling out!

Fallout 3

With so many "supposed" endings I could keep playing and playing trying to get the lot.
Posted Jul 4, 2008 5:56 am PT
Symphonycometh: Lol. There there.. *pat*

Jaforbe: Call of Duty 4, I have to say is the best first-person shooter I've come across since Goldeneye 64.

Craigalan23: Becoming quite the collector arent we? Single player games, do you have BioShock? Mass Effect is great too. I'm probably one of the few people who really get into multiplayer games. I'm more of a single player campaign kind of guy. Nothing like a good story, beautiful graphics, and likeable characters with great voice acting.

TTDog: Yeah man. I cant wait for Fallout 3. There is like no news, or hands-on previews on this game. The developers are the same guys that worked on Oblivion so I'm sure Fallout 3 will be epic.
Posted Jul 4, 2008 10:47 am PT
The last game I remember with so little build up was GTA3... and that was unreal.
Posted Jul 5, 2008 3:52 am PT
Fallout 3.
Posted Jul 5, 2008 7:12 am PT
TTDog: Come to think of it, you're right. A lot of video game websites are really anticipating Fallout 3 and even without a hands-on before E3, they have a ton of faith that this may be one of the best if not the best multiplatform game of the year.

bigtimegamer413: Who could resist exploring a postapocalyptic world? I certainly cannot wait.
Posted Jul 5, 2008 11:57 am PT
Elann: Yep i bought it months ago. The game was amazing and still is. The stories so great and i agree i'd rather play a singleplayer game then a multiplayer game. Sure they've got great gameplay and all but what do you remember years from now? Look at Goldeneye great for its time but would you really play it now? I still remember all of the epic moments from FFX and always will.
Posted Jul 5, 2008 4:01 pm PT
Craigalan23: That's so true, Craig. I love Goldeneye 64. Man, I played that game so much. But yeah, you're right. I wouldnt play it today. lol. Did you get Bad Company? How are you liking it? Does it deserve the 8.5 average score it's been garnering, or is it better? How's the single player campaign?
Posted Jul 5, 2008 11:50 pm PT
Elann: Yep i got it and i've been playing it a lot. Took a break and started playing COD4 for alittle bit i don't wanna play it to death. The campaigns fun but it's pretty easy. You can die 1,000 times and it wont matter whomever you killed and whatever you did will stay there. Also if you were in a vehicle it'll come back with you full armor. It's really fun and very action packed. Only problem is man your guys are dumb sometimes i don't even realize they're helping.

It's true enemies are either dumb or smart and some levels are downright impossible though. Either way you'll enjoy it and get plenty of laughs. The multiplayer's great only thing i dislike is if your team sucks you're gonna get beat down. You have to be pretty good to make up for a bad team. Good thing though is you can invite friends so at least your team wont be that bad.

There's currently only one mode but it's loads of fun and conquest will be a free download in a few weeks. 8 levels all very different and need you to use your brain not just charge and fire. Unlocking credits to get new weapons is pretty fun. No annoying uav scanner so if you prefer alittle sneaking around or jumping into the enemies base to get plenty of kills it'll be fun.

It's not the greatest game ever but i think it deserves an 8.7. Well worth the purchase and vehicle combat kicks ***.

Spore

Uh huh, yes please!
Posted Jul 9, 2008 1:20 pm PT
If Brutal Legend makes it in '08, then that'd be first, though.
Posted Jul 9, 2008 1:47 pm PT
I couldnt agree with you more. Spore would be the PC game that I choose first. It has pretty much motivated me to build a new PC just so I can play great PC games like Spore, Crysis, and World in Conflict, not to mention Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3.

Brutal Legend has that twisted metal feel to it. It's actually pretty cool and I'm liking it more and more.
