I didnt realize how much work is put into the gaming world. With today's technology that's growing at a rapid pace and competition in the marketplace, getting the best out of gaming can be chaotic. Recently, my PS3 just bombed on me. Everytime I turn on my PS3, there would be no video signal. Before you ask, I did everything humanly possible. I checked my HDMI cable if it was loose, my power cord, HDTV, everything. So, I find myself resetting my PS3 for the signal to detect. Ok, it works again. Great, NO. Here's the thing, once I turn off my PS3 and turn it back on, it does the same thing again. No Signal. And when I turned off my PS3 again, it doesnt turn off properly. Normally, the green light in the front is suppose to blink 5 times before it shuts off and turns red. In my case, it doesnt. It goes from green to red, instantly after pressing and holding the power button for 8-10 seconds. Normally, it only takes 1-2 seconds to turn off. So I've come to the conclusion that something is seriously wrong with my PS3. From now on, I'll never buy electronics off of Ebay. And believe me, I never have. If it werent for the 60GB model, I would have steered clear of eBay. I always buy my electronics new, solely because things like this will bound to happen. Had I waited for the MGS4 bundle, I would be sitting happy like a duck on the lake. But look at me, I'm more like a squirrel that got shot by a slingshot. Happy kid: 1. Squirrel: 0. Keep in mind, my warranty is up, because it's the 60GB model. The Sony rep said to take it into a repair shop but in my area, there isnt any. I called all over town and no one returned my phone calls, mainly because they probably dont have the "know-how" to fix one in the first place! So here I am, with a dud of a PS3. It's pretty much dead weight. Of all consoles, I didnt think the PS3 would poop out on me. Seriously. If anything, I thought my 360 would give up on me first. But after two perfect Xbox 360's, Microsoft still wins. Why two? Well I had a premium and I upgraded to an Elite and it wasnt because of RROD. Just a clean upgrade for more HDD space. So now, I lost all trust in Sony's product. I will forever be paranoid just like an Xbox 360 owner after experiencing RROD or some faulty disc drive error. Gaming is hard work. Harder than I thought. Not only do we shell out big bucks for these expensive machines but they die out on us. Sony says, they dont have any authorized dealers that can repair it for me... Lame.
I wanted to talk more about this topic other than my broken PS3. Gaming is really hard work. You have to buy this and that, in order for this and that to work and connect to this and that, blah blah, friggin, blah. I have more wires and cables than anyone known to man. Whatever happened to simplicity? PS3 requiring bluetooth headsets to be used as a mic/headset when they could just release their very own PS3 headset like Microsoft's? And dont get me started with composite, s-video, component, and hdmi cables that I seem to be spending a lot of my money on, so I could get Wii and PS2 games to look good. They're all gimmicks! None of the cables look significantly better than the other. Unless it's a still image of a comparsion, stood side by side, you cant even tell! The only time you can tell is when you go HD via HDMI cable. The difference from composite to s-video is slim to none. S-video to component, colors are richer, but picture seems to blurr out more than S-Video. Electronics are so complicated when it comes to gaming. I've gone through three new SDTVs I picked up for my Wii and PS2 games, and I had to return all of them. To spend your hard earned dollars for like a small ounce of SLIGHTLY (using that term loosely) better picture quality is crazy. I dont see the difference. When it comes to 480i games, I do not see one difference. I dont want to say it, but sometimes I regret buying the Wii, and I regret buying the PS3 60GB for backwards compatibility. I was less stressed out with my old setup. I was at peace with my games. Now, it's become an all out war and my OCD has taken over me, more than ever. I am one to pay attention to every detail, while in the end, it makes no difference at the end of the day. At least not anymore. Trying to make everything seem perfect in gaming has driven me mad. And I just recieved my new graphics card and PSU, so I hope I wont be running into any trouble with that. I can almost guarantee you, I will. I'm just the kind of person who doesnt have much luck with electronics. I always end up getting the short end of the stick. Thanks for reading.
Update:
Graphics card overheated. It was hot enough to heat up the earth. It made my computer turn off by itself to protect it from permanently damaging the CPU. Mind you, I was just installing it. I didnt even get to play any games yet. My power supply unit is working just fine with my computer right now. So I'm pretty sure it's my graphics card. Defective maybe? Sigh, I told you I have bad luck with electronics. Everytime I upgrade, I get whacked in the head with all this voodoo. First it's my PS3, my HDTV with a dead pixel, my SDTVs that didnt make any difference in picture quality except made it worst, and to top it off, Fedex dinged up my SDTV pretty bad. I am up to here with electronics. I feel so bad and depressed. All this work and money, for more headache. Sigh. I'll just crawl under a rock and play catch the worms. Screw new age technology!
Once again, ANOTHER update:
I found another dead pixel on my HDTV. I already called Circuit City and I'm taking it back today. It's within my 30 day return guarantee. I was going to live with the one dead pixel but TWO?! No way!
I lied, one more update:
Guitar Hero 3 wireless guitar will not detect motion when I swing my guitar in an upwards motion to get a rock meter boost. Yet another faulty electronic device.

Elann, when I purchased this laptop,I was lead to believe that I had the full warranty, besides I'm a little OCD,I would never in a million years spill anything on my laptop. I'm way to carefull.Long story short,I had to pay to get my laptop repaired, and purchase an extended warranty, which I was sure I already had.I mean, who buys a laptop with no warranty ? I was out hustled from beginning to end on this PC. Foremost, the spill damage came from the repair center, and secondly,I have filed a grievance with ShopNbc.SNBC,is where I purchased it from.I could have bought three laptops for the price this piece of junk has cost me. Moral of my story, bad luck comes to all of us at some point in our lives. Its just that some people feel its wrath more often.
haha
Darrenfps: You have me beat. After reading your comment, I feel better. You definitely have worse luck than I do. First your Xbox 360 conking out, how many times? SIX?! Oh man, Darren. I would have probably would have just shoved the 360 up Microsoft's face. Lol. And then, your laptop? $700 repair? Boy George, I wouldnt have the patience for that, let me tell you. You are an extremely patient person. And you are right, some of us experience some bad luck and people like me definitely feel it a lot more, lol.
Craigalan23: Jet engine one eh? Join the club, lol. I bought an elite and it's pretty loud. Sounds like a jet engine, just like you stated. My old premium was quiet. Sometimes I regret upgrading. More bad luck? lol!
Hazelnutman: Yup, lots of bad luck. So you better stay away from me. It might rub off onto ya! lol jk
I'm selling my 60GB PS3 "as is" on eBay. I should be able to get a couple hundred dollars or a bit more for it.
I'm making out my last comments before I head to Circuit City to get an exchange for this HDTV.
WalkingP: Hey hey! Long time no see. You're right. Gaming is not only hard work but it can be an expensive hobby as well.
BF:BC is just one of those solid, fun games. It's a good pick up if you dont have many games you need to work on.
PloKoon_: Yeah games are flowing in this summer, fall, all the way into the Holiday Season. Not to mention, Q1 2009. It seems to be the pattern though. Towards the end of the year, games come out because of the holidays. Great time to hit the consumer's pockets.
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 was a pretty solid shooter for me. I wasnt ecstatic about it or anything. What I did like about it were the customizations and level ranking. A lot of replay value. Multiplayer is a love or hate situation.
Unreal Tournament 3 is a fast-paced shooter. Weak single player campaign according to reviews. Mutliplayer is where it's at, apparently. Xbox 360 has improved graphics. Better framerate, better texturing and a lot of the things like gun models are polished up. Still, no sign of user created mods. Personally, I would go with the PS3 version. User created mods are what makes UT3, UT3.
Good luck on your mid-terms Taiko88. Talk to you soon. Take care.
