Hello out there. I was going to try and do something a little different this time, something involving the Gross National Happiness of Cameroon and how it is directly influenced by the number of people with mutton chops in Arkansas, but then I realized that would require some form of effort on my part. So I decided to go with this instead.

The Walking Wounded

About five days ago, I pinched something in my back. As a result, I've been wandering around with a posture that resembles that of Ed Grimley http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5619097745224237454. Good times. It only hurt when I would try and do stuff, like walking, sitting, lying down, coughing, going to the bathroom, not going to the bathroom, etc. Fortunately, it seems to be clearing up. I'm almost "back" to normal (see what I did there? ) , or whatever my version of normal happens to be.

So what activity was I engaged in when this happened? What heroic act was I committing to damage my back? Was I trying to expand the square footage of my "gun show?" Was I trying to save an army of nuns from a rampaging Krogan? Nope. I was trying to stand up. Neat. Let that be a lesson to you kiddies: standing up, whether it's the physical act or merely the symbolic act of defiance, is simply not worth it. Stay seated. I don't think I used "symbolic" correctly there.

:raspberry:

At the Movies

On a more positive note, I managed to catch "Defiance" finally. Not too bad at all. I'm not sure how close Tinseltown got to telling the actual truth of the story, but I can say that the story itself was enough to really get me thinking about life in general, about the little things I take for granted, and about the ridiculous, horrible things that people do to each other. What a world. I'm tempted to get all philosophical on ya'll, but I think I'll leave it there.

A couple of weeks back, I also watched the new "Rambo." Good grief. I consider myself to be a fairly desensitized person, but how did this movie manage to escape an NC-17 rating?

Gaming

I've managed to finish up a few titles in the past few weeks. I'll just give you a quick run-down in order to keep you from falling asleep.

Castle Crashers: Helluva lot of fun. I've heard some complaints about lag during multiplayer, but I can't speak to that as I am a mentally-abused shut-in and have no friends.

FEAR 2: Nothing to be afraid of. Encounters with Alma are reduced to really lame quick time events that require you to mash a single button in order to escape her. It's the same button every time. Some good tension in a couple of spots, but the pacing is all wrong. Too much emphasis on combat distracts from any feeling of "fear" that may have cropped up. Shooting ghosts with an assault rifle is still ridiculous.

Bionic Commando: I was going to make a "loses its grip joke", but somebody beat me to it. Damn you Google. Starts off ok, though a bit ridiculous. The agency or whatever you're working for decides that the best way to get you to your initial objective is to load you inside a rocket and launch your ass through a building. They launch your bionic arm separately, and you spend the first five minutes or so trying to find it. I'm not kidding. Some of the worst voice acting of this gen gently frosts the turd-cake that is the plot. The game centers around the idea of being able to use your mechanical abomination to swing and explore the world. Only trouble is that if you swing too high, you die of radiation poisoning. If you go off the set path, you die of radiation poisoning. If you fall into three inches of water, you drown. And then you die of radiation poisoning. Combat is fun, but gets old.

Lego Indy: Surprisingly good. I wasn't a huge fan of Lego Star Wars, so I wasn't expecting much from this game, but I figured I'd give it a shot. Glad I did. The puzzles are fairly interesting, and even though some of the levels are a bit tedious, there are still good times to be had. Free Play is a blast this time around, with each level giving different character abilities a chance to shine.

Medal of Honor: Airborne: Haven't finished this one just yet, but I'm actually having a really good time with this game. I thought I was done with WW2 shooters, but this one is actually pretty solid. Enemies are a little on the dumb side, and the parachuting gimmick is a little unwieldy, but overall the game is a mindless good time. Just don't expect too much.

Well, guess that's it for now. Hope everyone is doing well out there. Thanks for reading.

Rambo is awesome. You know this to be true.

If Rambo pinched something in his back, he would pummel that back into submission. You should be more like Rambo.

you know maybe you were standing to heroically save the Nuns see now that excuse can work lol Castle crashers was/is a great game the multiplayer isn't as laggy as it once was but I still play that game till no end btw hopefully this helps I have mutton chops and adore them lol

You are enjoying MoH Airborne? Really? That's odd.... I felt that was the worst of all of umm, never finished it. I did just finish Wolfenstein, much better than I was expecting it to be.

@johnsteed7: You're right. I was wondering why my life is such an epic failure. It's so simple now. I need to Rambo it up.

@payne6705: Standing up to save the nuns. I like that. That's what I'll say from now on.

@Gen_Warbuff: Yeah, I was a bit surprised too. Of course, it's been several years since I've played a MOH title, so that may have something to do with it. I still need to check out Wolfenstein. I've heard some fairly positive things.

I couldn't dig Airborne either. I went back to give it a second try, but still got frustrated and gave up. Rambo It Up. I must use that

I will take your advice there I think, I am planning on never standing up again in case I injure myself. Instead I plan on wheeling about in my computer chair for the rest of my days...

*realises she can't get down the stairs at the front door*

Oh ****.

Anyway on to the rest of your blog lol I haven't seen Defiance yet, although from what I've heard it sounds quite interesting so I'll probably check it out sometime. I'm quite excited about that new film coming out with Gerard Butler, 'Gamer.' It looks really good to me, plus I'll watch anything with Gerard Butler in it since he's... well... yummy

You must've been busy to finish all those games over just a few weeks None of them are really my type of game... although I may give Lego Indy a shot if only for the sweet sweet gamerpoints

Staying seated is such a fun activity, it demands no effort, other than not falling down. I was lolling all along. "If you fall into three inches of water, you drown. And then you die of radiation poisoning" lol. again. I've also played MOH airborne. It was pretty fun.

@bacchus2: It sounds like it should be on a shirt or something.

@Dinkyfish: Just replace your stairs with a ramp. Problem solved. I think I'm going to steer clear of "Gamer" myself. There's no "yummy" factor in it for me.

@Transilvanien: I gotta say I agree. Being seated is a blast. Being seated and typing at the same time is so much fun it should be illegal.

I feel your pain there, brother. I threw my back out not too long ago doing something rather insignificant. How insignificant? So insignificant that I can't even remember what it was... not only am I frail but my mental faculties are beginning to leave me too.

One of the guys I work with told me Wolfenstein, "wasn't great but it was entertaining" so take that for what its worth.

You'll save some nuns next week... don't worry.

Sorry to hear about your back, hope you heal up quick! Rambo is, hilarious. Is Castle Crashers any fun to play alone?
Posted Sep 20, 2009 10:59 pm PT
@laughlyn12: I know all about the brain shutting down. I don't know if you read each of the comments or not, but I just caught a response I made here that sounded really vulgar. I'm still embarrassed. Anyway, I'll probably snag Wolfy when it comes down to the twenty dollar mark or so. Looks fun, not something I'll sink 60.00 into. And I'm leaving the nuns to their fate from here on out. I'm all for rescuing folks, but only when there is no threat to my own health.

@floristandbicyc: I thought it was pretty good solo. It's a hack-n-slasher, so it does get a bit repetitive, but they keep enough variety going in terms of enemy types and locations to keep you interested.

"Defiance" was a great movie in my opinion because it showed WWII from a very different perspective than a lot of other movies! Sounds like you played a lot of games ... I for my part am definitely done with WWII-shooters after I played CoD-WaW recently - this game is really bad!!!
Posted Sep 21, 2009 1:15 am PT
cool.
Posted Sep 21, 2009 2:47 pm PT
@nicklech16: The movie kind of reminded me of Red Dawn, only a lot less action-focused. And I haven't even tried WaW. As soon as I found out they weren't going to keep up with the whole "Modern" theme, I decided I was out.

@EGOE: Thanks.

Man, hurting yourself while standing up, that's a first. I hope that you have recovered by now though and try not to stay seated for too long as it may strain your back.

None of those games interest me, but I have to say that Lego Indy sounds the most fun among them. *goes to the nearest game store and grabs a copy!*

I pray you get better. Having any form of health problems is not good!

I got Lego Indiana Jones with my XBox 360 Elite and must say it is pretty fun!
Posted Sep 26, 2009 8:57 am PT
@david_lck: @Sandpiper121PP: Thank you both for your concern. My back is actually much better now. It's still a little stiff, but the pain is pretty much gone.
Posted Sep 27, 2009 3:57 am PT
i played fear and its totally how u describe it. Single button mashin that s so lame
Posted Oct 1, 2009 7:02 am PT
@rebelway: Yeah. I was pretty disappointed with how they treated Alma.
Posted Oct 2, 2009 5:19 am PT
man that must of been some rigours standing you were doing there . Sorry shouldn't make fun of you for hurting your self....great now karma will probably make me slip and fall at work or something....>_

Sorry to hear about your back, man. I know how that kind of pain is.. I get back pains from time to time and I've got a gimp knee that I can pop out of joint left or right.. Hurts like hell. Castle Crashers is good fun.. When you can actually find someone online worth playing with...

@mahoney23: It was some pretty intense standing. I was in the middle of training for the professional standers event in the upcoming Olympics.

@Kloud_450: I don't have too much trouble with my knees, though my hip occasionally lets me know that its thinking about leaving the rest of my body behind. Good times.
Posted Nov 2, 2009 8:33 am PT
Man have they ever lowered the bar for Olympic events.... oh well at least the smaller countries should be able to afford to train their "athletes" for that event .
