Liev Schreiber learns what happens when you stick your finger into spinning helicopter blades. Pre-cyclopian Nick Fury finds this hilarious. 5 out of 5.

o i remember that game it was king on the C64

@Sandpiper121PP: & @rob3rtkid: I'm not sure if I ever actually played this one. I remember a few from the C64 days, like Ghostbusters and Archon, but I can't remember if this one made it into my library or not. Watching some gameplay footage on youtube seems to have jogged something in my memory, but I can't be certain. It's kind of cool to watch though: I think it might be the first game to use destructible cover.

I never heard of it before
Posted Jul 25, 2009 11:28 pm PT
I haven't heard of this either, but it seems like a couple of people have fond memories.
Posted Jul 25, 2009 11:30 pm PT
@jrabbit99: Something about it seems vaguely familiar to me. I was mostly just poking fun at the pic, though.

@ScionofEntropy: I watched some gameplay footage on youtube, and it doesn't seem like it would be half-bad. I agree with Sandpiper in that I'd love to see some of the old C64 games find their way onto XBL.

It's moments like this that make me stop secretly being angry and jealous of you and makes me realize that you aren't as bad as everyone says you are.
Cabal was freakin awesome... this was one of the first PC games that I ever got as a kid. Fond memories... before my life was beset by jealousy of those with undeniably cleverly titled recurring blogs.
Thanks for digging this memory out of the deep parts of my mind. Hopefully nothing bad will come out with it... uh oh.

I actually remember that! Not the game, but Nick Fury. Wasn't he that comic book character?

@laughlyn12: I knew people were saying bad things about me! My suspicions first arose when I saw the "ETW Must Die" Union, but now I know for certain.
It's really strange: I had no idea this would strike a chord with anybody. I gotta admit, I feel a little bad now. I was just trying to make fun of the box art.

Me founding that union doesn't offend you does it? I didn't accidentally send you an invite did I and if I did were you at least invited to be a founding member?
BTW... its 4:30am why are you up?

I think this game would be better suited as a remake for the Wii, allowing for independant movement with the nunchuk and using the remote for aiming. Rail shooters are fine, but I don't know why this hasn't been adopted to allow for more interactivity.

Oh, and nice interpretation of the box art, by the way!

@laughlyn12: I'd only be insulted if you didn't burn me in effigy at least twice weekly. Anything less than that just isn't much of a hate group, now is it? I have no idea why I'm up man. Can't seem to get the old noodle to shut off. Why are you?
@bacchus2: Thank ya sir.

Pretty much the same reason... its now 10 am and I've only gotten about an hour of sleep. Insomnia FTL.
As far as the hate group... I think twice a week is totally managable. I'll be sure to note it during our next meeting.

@laughlyn12: I can't stand it when I get like this. I'll be doing fine, and then one night my brain will go "You know what would be fun? Not sleeping anymore." I get a few hours here and there, but the time I actually sleep seems almost random. This will go on for a week or two, and the something in me goes "Oh right, I forgot how much this sucks." And then things go back to normal. FTL indeed.
Totally appreciate your consideration with the burnings. Very touching.

Man this brings back memories. Airport arcade actually, was so much fun at the time, waiting for the longest trip ever. lol
Posted Jul 26, 2009 10:34 pm PT
@Cthulad: That's funny. I have an airport arcade memory myself. I remember waiting to pick someone up (can't remember who) on several occasions, and my folks would always let me play "Afterburner." Man that was fun.

Nice. How much more of a reason do you need to shoot stuff?

although im only 20, i grew up playing this game, it has hard as hell for me, but one of my favorites
Posted Jul 28, 2009 9:18 pm PT
@ChuckSeabreeze: You know I'm still not sure I ever even played this one. I suppose it's possible, as I'm sure there are many games I've played but forgotten. Either way, I need to find a way to get a hold of this game.

I dont think I ever played Cabal, but the cheesy box art does look very familiar... I think the first Star wars game I played was on the SNES. The side-scroller were you play as Luke, and mid-way through you get your lightsaber. I always had a blast with that game. Also has anyone ever played Fester's Quest on NES? I just ask cause Back in the day no one ever heard of it that I knew lol.
BTW Funny bozart caption, that guy does look like Liev Schreiber, lol

@Steel_Rain777: I used to play the crap out of Super Star Wars! I loved that level where you had to scale the side of the Jawa Sandcrawler (or whatever that vehicle is called). And yeah, I got down on some Fester's Quest as well. I remember that one being a lot of fun.

I think this game was in the lobby of Southwood Theater. The one Reuter worked/lived in. Liev kinda looks like the 5th Baldwin brother to me. Somewhere between Daniel and Stephen. Hee hee.
How is Mick Furry gonna shootz his grenade launcher? He's dual-wielding!

@indecisiverhino: He'll probably use his awesome junk to fire the grenades.
Posted Jul 31, 2009 8:41 pm PT
Fire the pocket rocket! So Fury did use his "cycloptic powers" even when he had both eyes then? Using his ol' one-eye to shoot the gun and all......SO HAWT.

Hm, don't think that I was around when this game was launched. The cover is awesome!
Posted Aug 9, 2009 12:22 am PT
@david_lck: I love the old game covers. So cheesy yet so powerful.
