This is a three disc set. It is formated as a countdown so the DVD starts with Michael Cole and Matt Striker who are the host on the DVD and you go right into the countdown the countdown starts from 100 and goes all the way down to the number 1 moment in Smackdown history. There are around 20 matches in the DVD that you will enjoy. My favorite match on this set was Eddie Guerrero vs. Edge in a No DQ match. They show highlights of matches and moments. For instance Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle Iron Man Match is just a highlight. The highlight is good but the match would have been great.
I really enjoyed this DVD set. I've been watching Smackdown since the first episode and this DVD is like rewatching old memories. You get commentary by Santino, C.M. Punk, Michael Hayes, and several other people. For the most part the matches they put on this set were good there were no matches that were bad but I'm sure that there were better matches out there. Some of you may debate the countdown but for the most part I thought that the countdown was good. I really enjoy countdowns so I may like this DVD more than you.
If you are looking for a really enjoyable DVD that you can spend the weekend watching by yourself or with some friends this is the one for you.
Overall Score: 8/10
I think that this is a bad move by TNA. Hogan is there because he wants and needs money. Do you think that Hogan is going to TNA because he loves the promotion and think that its great. I know that he will say that in his debut promo but we all know why he is there. He is bringing Bischoff with him which makes the situation worse for TNA. TNA now is their company Hogan and Bischoff pull the strings.
Do you think that Hogan is going to job to AJ, or Joe. TNA is giving money to guys like Nash, Steiner, Foley, Angle, Sting, Hogan, Bischoff, Bobby Lashley, etc. Hogan may give them ratings for a while but where is this company going to be in 5 years when most likely all the guys listed above are gone. They will have guys like Joe and AJ but they will lose all their top draws and they haven't done a good job in building new stars.
TNA needs to be signing more guys like Nigel. You have guys like Chris Hero, Claudio Castagnoli, Tyler Black, etc. who can work in the ring and give you several years of great matches and promos. I think that TNA is giving money out like candy and hoping that these guys will fix the problem. IMO they are signing the wrong guys.
What do you guys think about the situation?
We get the opening of the show. The brand that wins the best two out of three Raw vs. Smackdown matches gets the Bragging Rights trophy.
Todd Grisham, Michael Cole, and The King are doing commentary tonight.
1. Raw vs. Smackdown: The Miz (R) vs. John Morrison (S). This was a good match. They got a good chunk of time and they put on a good match. They showed the teams in the back watching the match. The Miz and Morrison worked well and Morrison with for the Star Ship Pain but the Miz took his legs out and then the Miz pinned Morrison for the win to put Raw up 1-0. ***1/4
2. Raw vs. Smackdown: Michelle McCool, Beth Phoenix, & Natalya (S) vs. Gail Kim, Melina, and Kelly Kelly ( R). This was a decent match. This was better than any Diva match that has been on TV in a while. The Smackdown Divas evened up the score after Beth hit Melina with the Glam Slam. **1/4
3. World Heavyweight Title Match: Rey Mysterio vs. C.M. Punk vs. Batista vs. The Undertaker (C). This was a good match. There was never a dull moment in this match. All four guys had chances to win the match but the pinfalls were broken up. Batista and Rey argued and then the end came when Batista threw Mysterio to the floor onto Punk and then he turned and Taker hit him with the Tombstone for the win. After the match Batista turned on Rey as he beat Mysterio down. ***1/2
4. Team Raw vs. Team Smackdown: D-X, Cody Rhodes, Kofi Kingston, Big Show, Mark Henry, and Jack Swagger (R) vs. Chris Jericho, Kane, The Hardy Dynasty, R-Truth, Finlay, and Matt Hardy. I think that this should be the main event but oh well. This was a good match. This was a basic multiman tag match. The ending came when all hell broke lose and the Big Show turned on Raw and chokeslamed Kofi. Jericho then pinned Kofi for the win and Smackdown won 2-1. Is it me or does Smackdown always wins these type of matches. I was hoping for something different. ***
5. Iron Man Match for the WWE Title: Randy Orton (C) vs. John Cena. There in No DQ and there is No Count Outs. If Cena loses he goes to Smackdown. If Orton loses he doesn't get any rematches against Cena. The highlight package they showed summed up this feud really well and I liked it. Cena got the STF in and Orton tapped right away and Cena got the early lead 1-0 four minutes into the match. 30 second breaks in between falls. Randy Orton even up the score at 1-1 when he hit Cena with a RKO. The first 10 minutes were really slow. Falls count anywhere in this match. Orton went for the first fall on the fall 12 minutes in but Cena kicked out. Cena got busted open after Orton hit him with a television monitor. Cena went for the Attitude Adjustment and Orton hit Cena with a RKO. Both men's shoulders were counted down for a 2-2 tie 17 minutes into the match. The doctors were checking Cena's cut during the break. The doctors closed Cena's cut. Cena hit Orton with an Attitude Adjustment off of the second rope and he regained the lead at the 20 minute mark. 3-2 Cena. Legacy came out and attacked Cena. DiBiase hit Cena with Dream Street and Orton tied things up at 3-3 21 minutes into the match. Kofi Kingston chased Legacy to the back with a chair. Before the match started Rhodes and Kingston went at it backstage. Orton threw Cena into lighting and then pinned Cena to take a 4-3 lead 25 minutes into the match. Randy started messing around with the pyro. Orton then hit Cena with and then tried to make the pyro go off on Cena but Cena rolled out of the way. Half way through the match Randy has the lead 4-3. 33 minutes into the match Cena rolled Orton up to tie the score at 4-4. Orton then hit Cena with a ddt onto the floor to take the 5-4 lead at the 35 minute mark of the match. Around the 20 minute mark Orton started to run away as the clock kept on ticking. Cena started the bleed again. Cena was going to hit Orton with an Attitude Adjustment. Orton reversed and then he started to run through the crowd. They brawled in the crowd for a bit and then the got the match to ringside. At the 47 minute mark Cena threw Orton through the barricade. At the 51 minute mark Cena hit Orton with the Attitude Adjustment through the announcer's table and he tied the score up at 5-5. At the 55 minute mark Cena went for a leg drop on Orton through a table but Orton rolled out of the way and Cena went crashing through the table. At the 57 minute mark Cena accidentally hit the ref and Orton hit him with a RKO but there was no ref to count. Another ref came and Cena kicked out at two. Orton then hit the ref that counted the two. At the 59 minute mark Cena locked in the STF and Orton tapped with 5 seconds left and Cena won the match 6-5. Story telling in the match was good the action was decent. The match picked up in the end though. ***1/2
This was a good show nothing great but there was nothing bad.
