I haven't posted in my blog since april, and since I'm laboring under the delusion that anybody cares, I figured I'd give everybody an update on what's going on with me.

For starters, I'm unemployed again, because the baseball season ended and they don't need people to sell pretzels to an empty stadium. I can probably get hired again at the start off the next season, but I need money now, so that doesn't do me a whole lot of good. Of course, I'm still living with my parents, so I'm not paying for my own food or rent (just my own clothes, entertainment, and college tuition), but I'm really desperate to move out and get my own place, because my sisters (mostly my 13-year-old sister) are driving me up the wall. I've done some research on local apartments (they were giving out guides to local apartments at school), and I've found an apartment complex that's in the absolute perfect location; within walking distance of both my parent's house and a major shopping center (including a grocery store and a video game store!), and it'sright on the busline, so getting to school and back won't be a problem. The rent's pretty reasonable too, ranging from $400-550 per month. I haven't actually gone to the apartment to take a look at it yet, but the perfect location is enough to override a lot ofminor problems with the apartment.

But until I actually get a job, that apartment all to myself is just a fantasy. I've applied to a couple of places, but so far nobody's called me back. There's a new convenience store opening up near my house in a few weeks (well, they say it's going to open in a few weeks, but knowing how construction in Michigan usually goes, a couple of months is more likely).I am making a few dollars cleaning my friend's house, though; Ten bucks an hour to clean his dishes, vacuum his carpet, and organize his Dungeons and Dragons paraphenelia. It's a pretty good deal, but I only work about ten hours a month. Still, it's income.

In other news, I am still in college. Not a lot to say about that. I go to class, listen to lectures, do my homework/labs, and then go home. Most interesting thing about it is my 2-hour lunch breaks, which gives me plenty of time to go wandering around downtown lansing. Not like there's anything interesting in that part of downtown; it's almost all banks, office buildings, and high-end businesses like suit stores and nice resteraunts. But there is a comic book shop I like to frequent, and the public library is nearby. And yes, I do like to go to the library, and yes, I do like to read. Get over it.

I recently found out that the TV Links website got shut down by British authorities last week. I had noticed that I couldn't get onto the website lately, but I thought it was either my internet connection being cranky or that their server crashed or something. But no, they got formally shut down for copyright infringement and internet pirating and all that fun stuff. It sucks, but there's other websites I've found that do the exact same thing, so it's not the end of the world.

I can't think of anything else exciting that's happened to me last week. Oh, my uncle's cat Zoe had a seizure last week; I wasn't there to witness it, but he told me about it the next day. It's not really surprising, since a chihuahua nearly bit the poor cat's head off when she was a tiny kitten (she had a serious skull fracture, and she's still mostly blind in one eye). But she is recovering nicely, and is back to her usual psycho-slasher self (she likes to bite people). She's cute enough to make up for it, though.

Well, that didn't last as long as I expected. Only two weeks of boycotting and Sanjaya's out the door. But I shouldn't complain, because I did miss Blake and Mindy and all the other good singers. So I'm going to catch up on the last two weeks (thank god for DVR), and then life can get back to normal. Oh, and if you're wondering what I watched on Tuesday night instead of AI, I watched Die Hard for the first time. Yes, shocking as it is, I'd never seen the entire movie before, although I did catch the last half of it on TV a couple of years ago. But what with Live Free Or Die Hard coming out this summer, I figured I should watch the first three movies, so i rented Die Hard and recorded Die Hard with a Vengeance. My dad said there's no real point in watching the second movie though, because it sucked. I'll take his word on it for now. But I really wish I hadn't waited this long to rent that movie. That was the most awesome action movie I've seen in many years. I especially loved the catchphrase "Yippee-Ki-Yay, Motherf****r". I so wish I could use that in regular conversation, but I try not to swear in polite conversations, so I'll have to settle for putting it in my FilmSpot siggy. Anyway, glad I can watch American Idol again. I gotta go, class just started.

Grindhouse
Grindhouse is actually two different movies, so I will review them seperately. Planet terror was great, I loved the zombie makeup and all of the characters were cool enough that I actually cared about what happened to them, despite the fact that...

Breach
Could have used some more action sequences, but the suspense and psychological drama were more than enough to carry the movie. Breach is definitely worth seeing.

The Blues Brothers
This is my favorite movie of all time. Dan Ackroyd and John Belushi had perfect chemistry together, the one-liners were great, the car chases were awesome, the theme of redemption was sweet without being sappy, and the best thing is, no character...
