I think Final Fantasy IX is one of the best RPGs that I've played, because it kind of goes back to what RPGs once were. The story, I believe is the most important part of an RPG, and FFIX's mixes all the elements one needs to make an excellent game. It keeps a light-hearted and fun part to it while also having a deep and moving element. I believe it's one of the most underappreciated RPGs out there, and it deserves more credit.

I see where you are coming from with that. Final Fantasy 9 is very much like the old RPG's. The story is complex and fun. It has its serious points but still keeps the story on a light side. I had a lot of fun with the game. I believe that all of the Final Fantasy's before IX were also very good with the RPG elements. I am not one to play something that is too monotonous or anything that is too crazy. I liked how Final Fantasy IX acchieved this but I wish that some of the goals in the game weren't so impossible. At the same token, if you acchieve everything you forget easier than when the game is left incomplete. Good Choice for a good old game. I don't know if I would select it as the best, but I do agree that it is underappreciated. Many of my friends played it for a couple hours and tagged it bad without really trying the game in its entirity. The story really gets you towards the end. Next Game?

I think that Beyond Oasis on the Genesis was pretty amazing because the levels were so huge and there were so many cool things about the game. The main character had aura viewing, and could project himself from his own body to find hidden paths. He also had a fairy that can turn into things like a tornado to help kill enemies. You should borrow it sometime, but I'll have to lend you my SEGA.

Ds, I wasn't saying FFIX was my favorite, just that it is one of the best yet underappreciated games out there. I think a lot of people had different expectations of IX, because of how epic VII and VIII were (not to say I don't love those two games). But I think that my favorite RPGs are FFVII, FFIX, FFX, and Kingdom Hearts (I haven't finished VIII yet).
