First of all this is probably gonna be my first real blog in awhile.
The ideas that I listed below are somewhat different than what I thought about earlier.
Today I was thinking about things in life, as what I normally do when I have alot of free time on my hands. I started thinking about VR and how it could be created. I often thought in the past but this time i thought I was so close to figuring it out. Previously I have always thought that the way to VR was only through some kind of console-like machine and something like the headplay
Well although headplay is very close its still not VR. It only registers as VR due to the fact that you have wats called a Liberator connected to a visor. That Liberator sends images to the visor via a usb connection. You also have to connect the Liberator to another source like a computer, mp3 player, or any game console. They say its like having the best seat to watch anything. The only thing about this is I've heard rumors about the person would have to sit and stare at the T.V. in one spot for it to show up. I'm not exactly sure how it works or not and it really too expensive to buy. It costs more than an 80gb ps3.
Anyways thats how I always pictured VR to be but my theory changed drastically today. I thought about using dreams as a way to create VR. If you think about it dreams are basically VR in a sense. The only thing about dreams is we can't actually control them nor what we do inside them. A dream is a fantasy world that your brain has created. In dreams you use all of your senses and you would only respond in dreams as you would when you are awake.
You have two kinds of sleep. You have REM sleep or Rapid Eye Movement sleep when your eyes go back and forth in a very fast way. And then you non-REM sleep. According to some of the research I've read REM occurs at least six years in a average person lifespan, which is two hours every night. I was thinking if we use this REM sleep to create VR. I actually thought that we somehow connect wires to person while they were in the REM stage and project it onto a screen so that others could view it. While it was projected we could try to communicate with the person while they were in this type of sleep via some sort of mic. The only thing about it is scientists have yet to discover what part of the brain dreams originate from and why it does create dreams.
If we could find out where they come from and why they are created maybe then could we be able to create VR. I wonder if it will ever during our lifetime.
