Everton battled hard to preserve their Premiership status but come April and May the Toffees lost their momentum in their last few games. They finished the season in 18th place with 31 points as they couldn't overtakethe teamsnear and above them in the table.
Birmingham City was the second team relegated from the top flight having just spent a season trying to survive in it. They were condemned to the drop in early April but did have spells outside the relegation zone. They finished in 19th place though with only 27 points.
Reading started the season very poorly and it went from bad to worse for them. They struggled to adapt to life in the top flight - unlike Sheffield Wednesday and they were doomed to the drop come March - Back to Championship football for them then.
Derby was promoted after an excellent season in the Championship and like the them Middleborough and QPR also clinched promotion to the top flight. Middlesborough are the favorites to stay up though having already some experience in the Premiership.
