GAMES: GameSpot GameFAQs MOVIES: Metacritic Movietome Comic-Con

I was looking at a list of upcoming games for this year, and I couldn't believe how many of them were $140. This isn't even the price for a collector's edition. What the hell is up with that? I can't justify spending that kind of money on a game. Looks like it's time to adjust my tracked list and wishlist.

Just glad that I have so many games to chow through. Should make not buying any feel that little bit less stale.

What does that translate into for US dollars? But yeah, ever since the 360, games have become more expensive. I'll only really treat myself to games at full price one or twice a month, and the rest are either on sale or used.

It is weird.

I mean, with the exhange rate, games here vary a bit in price - they've gone from $60 to $70 and occasionally higher for rarer games. It's nothing like the SNES era where Chrono Trigger was $130, but it's still odd.

And now Activision is jacking games five bucks even in the US, which I'm sure will carry over to $75 or $80 games in Canada.

I think it's stupid. I'll probably end up doing what I always have - wait for them to drop in price - because there are very few games that are actually worth that much money.

Has the PS3 being region free helped games drop in price at all in New Zealand? I hope it would, but I also have a feeling high shipping costs might offset it.

Yeah, unfortunately shipping costs generally negate any savings made from buying an imported title. Also, most DLC is region-locked, if you care about that.

Speaking of Activision, I've noticed that they are the worst for price hikes. And Kotick had the cheek to complain about the PS3 price!
