Ok so a few of you may know that I've been taking advantage of LoveFilm's free 30 day trial to rent a few games that I've been wanting but have been hesitant to buy incase they're rubbish lol. Well basically that trial is up in 2 days, so I went online a minute ago to try to cancel my account before I got charged, but found out you can't do it online, you need to do it over the phone. What a pain. So basically I phoned them, got someone in an Indian call-centre (who, to be fair, actually was quite easy to understand) and found out that because I currently have 2 games rented out, if I cancelled my account tonight and they didn't get the disks by tomorrow (overnight delivery, I doubt it) I would still get charged about £15 for next months rental before my account was cancelled. They're a bunch of sneaky @?£*!?&% this lot lol. So basically I asked the woman (very politely- after working in customer service for several years I've learnt that you don't get anywhere by being rude ) if there was anything she could do, and she offered me 2 months for the £15 instead of just the one! So if you add in the free month that I've already had, that adds up to 3 months of game rentals for just £15 - awesome! I'll remember to cancel earlier next time though.

With all this renting my gamerscore has got a massive boost, I'm now just under 17K My bf is still at over 32K though so I've still got a while before I catch up to him!

I also just noticed today that my Gamespot level has gone up again, I'm now level 18 which apparently is "Flicky." I'm not sure what (if any) game that is in reference to, so if anyone knows then let me know!

Some other, random bits of news-

  • I'm still busy job-hunting with little to no success, people just don't want to hire games programmers with no experience I'm kind of at a loss what to do.
  • It was one of my best friend's 21st birthday night out the other day, we all went out to the pubs/clubs dressed as neon fairies in tutu's and wings and such lol Needless to say a very good night was had by all, although I don't think I will ever drink tequila again
  • It'll be my 21st next month and I'm still completely undecided as to what I should do. I'm currently considering an 'Animal' themed night out cause I found a pretty sweet leopard costume on eBay that I want If anyone has any better suggestions then feel free to post them here!
  • My mum has brought home a new clock which 'dongs' on the hour, and every half hour (it's a real antique one) and it's driving me insane. Tonight is the first night I'll have to sleep with it in the house so I'll see how it goes, I'm usually a really heavy sleeper (I've slept through the fire alarm ) so hopefully it won't wake me up. I turn into the hulk if I do get woken up though... so it may not be in one piece by the morning

Anyway I'm just waffling now so I'll shut up Hope everyone is well!

Nice work with the rentals. Sounds like one helluva deal. Never been a huge fan of tequila. Whenever I used to drink it, I always got the impression that it was angry and actively trying to kill me.

Good luck on fnding a job I hope you get one soon
And make a blog on them day o your 21st
Hammer + Clock = Relaxation

i like free stuff too

@S1MSTA - yeah it's usually best to cut out the middle-man! I just read your blog though, and the reason they would have sent you lower-priority games is just because they were all that they had in stock when your order was being dispatched. They try to sent you the high priority stuff first, but its no guarantee I've had Prototype on my 'high priority' section for about a month now and still no sign of it...

@EarthThatWas - Ah right, cheers for that! I'm not a fan of the Sonic games so that would explain why I've never heard of her lol As for the tequila... yeah I'd maybe avoid it then It always seems like such a good idea at the time, but as soon as you've drunk it you regret it lol

@Dudersaper - Cheers! I hope I get a job soon too... And I think the clock is ok now actually- I slept like a log last night lol

@munchlax99 - Who doesn't?

I would like to see u drunk with tequila u will be like hi (hich) rebel whats (hich) up
Posted Jul 21, 2009 10:22 am PT
Haha, that's pretty funny Glad you got the 3 months, what did you rent?

My gamerscore is at 6500...I think. I haven't been playing my 360 recently except for Ninja Gaiden, but that's Xbox so no achievements to get >.>

I remember playing Flicky so much. It's a really addicting old Sega game, and I think the bird that you play is named Flicky. Congrats on level 18

I haven't had any luck with the job hunt either No idea on a better suggestion than an animal theme

My grandma has an old clock like that, but thankfully she turns the hourly sound off at night xD
Posted Jul 21, 2009 10:38 am PT
@rebelway - lol that sounds about right I'd probably give you a big hug (i hug everyone and anyone when I'm drunk) and stand on your toes in my high heels in the process

@ShadowVari - I've rented absolutely hundreds so far! I've had Rise of the Argonauts, Monsters Vs Aliens (lol I'm a big kid really ), Lost Via Domus, Kameo, Just Cause, Tales of Vesperia and... Avatar lol (hence 1000G boost in gamerscore). Job hunting sucks doesn't it? I'm fed up of receiving rejection emails or -even worse- nothing at all. I never thought it would be this hard...

As for the clock - I've just checked and it's so old that there doesn't seem to be any way to turn the chimes off, but you can just wind the part that runs the clock and not wind the part that runs the chimes so that eventually it'll stop!
Posted Jul 22, 2009 2:25 am PT
Ah yes, I've heard the avatar achiements can take 2 min. How was Rise of Argonauts? I don't really know what to think of it O_o And Vesperia is awesome, did you finish it?

Yeah, I usually don't get anything back at all. That's why a rejection notification is like a step up >.> It's the worst time too, with the economy and all.

Heh, it's gotta be really old then. How can you buy a clock that old though? Maybe it would sell for a hefty price

careful girl somebody will be jeaolus but a big hug in the dark will be ok

Hey Dinky, Nice Blog, I always love blogs on people's Life...........

Well For sure u should always b polite while talking with customer service, It can help always ............

Glad u had fun on friends birthday, I couldn't say what u should wear, It's ur choice & if I say the truth, I'm very bad at making chioces, I hate making choices cause I'm always confused, I take help from my brother.........

As I said many times before, I don't drink, So couldn't share views on that.........

BTW I would love to see u in that dress :Smiley Unknown:...........

Hey I think u should give a remake to ur about me Jillian........
Posted Jul 23, 2009 6:52 am PT
Nice job gettin the 2 months of rentals for 15 bucks! I cant stand customer service people .
I have an antique clock too and it does the exact same thing! Doesn't bother me much so I bought a sledge hammer in vain. Yor friends birthday party sounded like funn and be sure to have fun on your birthday as well. Why dont you and your friends dress up as video game characters?
Posted Jul 23, 2009 11:32 am PT
Grats on leveling, and as far as the tequila, I can't really say anything seeing as the only alcohol I've ever had was a sip of beer, white wine, and red wine seeing as I'm only 15... didn't really like any of them though.. I guess I don't have a taste for alcohol yet, which is probably a good thing Although, as far as B-day suggestions, I'd have to say, go Zelda on the town, but then again, I'm just saying that because I love Zelda! but it'd still be cool! Now with the clock, either
A: earplugs
B: disconnect the power for it
or C: When in doubt TNT!!!
(personally I'd go with the TNT... Just a suggestion )
Posted Jul 23, 2009 9:57 pm PT
@ShadowVari - Rise of the Argonauts was ok... the game was about 80% talking to people and only 20% fighting though, which was a bit weird for a hack n slash type game... the voice acting was really good though which helped a bit! As for ToV, I'll be honest I never played more than a few hours of it, I didn't realise how 'anime' it was which completely put me off, as did the characters who irritated me like nothing else! I might go back to it at a later date, but I'm definitely not in any rush.

Oh and the clock came from my gran, who used to run an antique shop, so that's how we got something so old! I reckon it's got to be at least 100-150 years old
Posted Jul 24, 2009 2:33 am PT
@rebelway - Oi behave yourself
Posted Jul 24, 2009 2:33 am PT
@pakhair - lol yeah I'll maybe put a few of the pics from the night out up, they are very very silly

And I'd totally forgotten about the 'about me' section! I'll update it soon, thanks for reminding me
Posted Jul 24, 2009 2:36 am PT
@GameGoddess33 - I'd LOVE to dress up as video game characters (I'd be Lulu from FFX ) but none of my friends are geeks so they won't do it lol They barely know what way up to hold a DS so there's no way I could get them to dress up as video game characters!

I think I've found the best leopard costume ever though so I'll probably just go with animals... here take a look-
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=260434452483
What do you think???
Posted Jul 24, 2009 2:40 am PT
@Eluinn - Lol yea I never used to like alcohol, and I don't think I'll ever like beer, but you do get used to it. I mainly drink really sweet drinks though because I don't like the taste of alcohol that much...

And I'd love to do a Zelda night out! But as I said to GameGoddess, none of my friends are into video games (they probably would even know who Link was!) so there's no way they'd dress up like that lol

As for the clock - it's ok, it's not actually bothered me that much, but your suggestion B wouldn't work seeing as it's clockwork so it doesn't need any power!
Posted Jul 24, 2009 2:46 am PT
Oh I got u, U live in UK but where still unknown cause u r shopping from Ebay UK :Genius Smiley:

BTW Yeah I know many ppl don't wanna share their personal pics online (Like U & Me) but that's OK ............

Hey Why do u wanna cancel your renting subscription, That's good to boost ur score & the money is also OK for a working person.........
Posted Jul 24, 2009 2:59 am PT
OoOpS My bad, Sorry for posting again. The dress is cool but IMO It's not elegant for sure..........

Hope u come up with a good decision ...........
Posted Jul 24, 2009 3:01 am PT
Yes that is strange for a hack n slash game. I remember playing Neverwinter Nights, and regular townspeople said like 10 pages of uninteresting (but important to progress the game) dialogue O_O And Vesperia is such an awesome game, does the anime really put you off it that much?

That's real old. I don't know how old my grandma's clock is, but not over 100 for sure. I'll have to ask.
Posted Jul 24, 2009 5:00 am PT
Ups my bad *makin the voice a little more adult*
We have to be more mature and behave
Posted Jul 24, 2009 8:45 am PT
@Pakhair - you could be a detective you know I wanted to cancel the subscription because I only work part-time so £15 a month is quite a bit of my wages, and also because I like to actually 'own' games (I am a bit of a collector ). I also tend to spend alot of time on each game, so it's really not efficient for me to rent them because I might spend a month or more playing a single game, so I may as well buy it rather than feel pressured into rushing through it...

And I know the outfit isn't exactly elegant But I like to be the centre of attention

@ShadowVari - yeah it does, I've never been able to stand anime The characters are all just so cliched and annoying... they drive me crazy! I wanted to strangle Estelle within anout 5 mins of playing I don't like the really cartoony way their mouths move when they're talking either (weird thing to pick on I know but it bugs me). I wasn't too fond of the combat system either, it seemed to be nearly impossible to successfully block attacks, and so everything just descended into a blur of button mashing. That and Repede KEPT DYING lol I changed his AI about a million times but he always just seemed to run right into the middle of everything and get flattened. Grrr... I'll maybe give it another shot when I've run out of other stuff to play... but I can't promise anything lol
Posted Jul 24, 2009 1:35 pm PT
Well, if you played more of the game you would see that Yuri is a completely original character. And it's kinda funny because it seems like there was a lot of effort put into Yuri's character design...and then they just chose cliches for everybody else You just have to get used to the combat, but I found Vesperia to be the only 3D one of the series that you can't really button mash on. It was very technical, and I would always be interrupted between artes. You should have played co-op with you BF, the multiplayer is a lot of fun. And pretty much all Tales games are difficult in the beginning but get easier as they go on, which definitely is not a good first impression

Those anime RPG kinda dominate the genre right now

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flicky

You know when you beat an enemy in STH, sometimes a cute blue bird flies out? He's Flicky. He's from a arcade-style game for the GEN.

Congrats on getting so much games for practicly nothing XD
Posted Jul 25, 2009 9:56 am PT
@MrSaturn33 - Yeah I never played the Sonic games (I like taking my time so Sonic is definitely not for me ) so that's why I didn't know that - cheers!
Posted Jul 25, 2009 10:31 am PT
ya keep using that free trail they diserve it
Posted Jul 25, 2009 3:22 pm PT
@Rob3rtkid - Yeah I'm totally abusing their system but who cares! I'm sure they rip most folk off anyways
Posted Jul 25, 2009 3:37 pm PT

U r a genious too, Didn't even gave a hint on the the things & skipped on .......

I think things like this should b discussed on PMs.............

I agree renting is crap for most of ppl cause rushing through games is annoying although exchange is a good habit......

Well I don't know that I should use these words or not cause I don't know u much but if u mind I apologize in advance ........... By saying I want to b the centerpiece U mean U wanna become Sexiest Charm of the Party, Am I Right???
Posted Jul 29, 2009 3:04 am PT
@pakhair - yes indeed I do It's always nice to feel appreciated lol but my boyfriend will be out with me so I'm sure he'll be keeping an eye on me!

I've actually made some slight alterations to the costume to make it slightly less... revealing lol it's now more like a catsuit, but still reasonably low-cut so as to attract a decent amount of attention
Posted Jul 29, 2009 7:36 am PT
