We're settled, and today we have internet... woo hoo! I'm starting to feel a bit like I'm borg... I just didn't feel right while I was disconnected from my "collective".

Hubby made the trip back to the house okay, and it even appears as though we didn't have any flooding. However, since our roof needed repair even before the hurricane, we don't know what condition the roof is in. I certainly didn't encourage him to climb onto the roof, and he didn't have that as a priority on the list. We rescued our computers, one Xbox, and clothes and important paperwork. Also, my CAMERA DRIVER DISC which caused me such a snit last week, lol.

The insurance guy contacted us yesterday, wanting to line up a time where they could meet us at the house to assess our damage. We only got cable TV today, so we're behind on the news and I have no idea if we will be allowed to go in.

The insurance company is giving us TLE money, as per our contract, so we're doing okay. We rented some furniture for the new place, and bought a few things to get us by. The sofa is a sleeper, and Little Bit thinks a sleeping bag is a great adventure, though we're thinking of getting her a futon day-bed.

Other than that, we're hanging in there. I missed the premieres of "Bones" and "Supernatural" but now I can reconnect my ReplayTV and have a friend send them.

I'm happy to know that your life is starting to get back on track. I'm also sorry that you have been affected by this tragedy. You seem to have a great attitude about it, having your priorities in the right order.

I didn't catch "Bones", but saw an encore of "Supernatural" and it was pretty dang good. Not great, but different from what you may expect to see on television. Creepy, and even scary. I definitely recommend checking it out if you get the chance.

I'm glad to hear your home didn't get any flooding and that things are starting to get back to normal. When the disaster hit, you and cajungirl immediately came to mind. I was very happy to see you posting again.

I saw parts of Bones. I love David Boreanaz (sp) from ANGEL so I was really excited about that one, but I forgot it was on and then couldn't focus once I remembered. Didn't get to see Supernatural at all. One of our local stations bought the WB/UPN affiliate here and changed all of the programming. Gilmore Girls didn't come on until 11 pm and SUPERNATURAL wasn't on at all. I checked tv guide to see if they moved it to another night, but I couldn't find it anywhere. They showed the same UPN shows on both UPN and WB instead of the WB shows. (sigh)

Happy you didn't get flooding. That will mean better things for you when the Insurance guy comes around.

So you are in Houston? It can't be that far from Dallas...I mean Texas just isn't that big a state, eh?

We will have to have a western style Lost party some day soon!

Betts, I'll bring the chips and salsa if you bring the margaritas, lol.

My husband was actually hoping for a bit more damage, because the smell was apparently so bad he's worried it will be a permanent thing, soaked up by the stuff that makes up dry wall. We will definitely get new roofing, and a new carport and shed... and carpet, hopefully, if the inspector assumes the carpet damage from the AC leaking last year is flood damage. Either way it was covered.

I just don't want to live in the house that smells like what evil must smell like. If they try to dink us around on Temp. living expenses on the basis of the smell, or that the house is "livable" despite the fact that the tapwater is contaminated and there are no grocery stores open, etc., then I'm going to have to throw down.
