No, seriously. This isn't the GS User Soapbox editorial blog I promised last blog (which was about a month ago... ) Sorry.

So... how are you guys doing?

I really don't have much to say in this one. I've been tied up with my summer reading assignments (reading Brave New World and Othello back-to-back and then having to fill out a packet's worth of questions is killing me) as well as other miscellaneous tasks that my parents have relinquished upon me (i.e. researching colleges, taking practice SATs, etc.). It's not my cup of tea, but well... I need to do it irregardless.

Hm... it also seems that I've finally made it to Level 28. Since I've always explained where each level moniker originated from before, I see no reason why I shouldn't do so now.

Bionic Commando (known as Top Secret in Japan) is a Capcom-developed arcade game from 1987 where the hero, equipped with a gun and grappling bionic arm (he can't jump, so he uses the grappling arm to cross chasms and such), must infiltrate an enemy base and stop them from launching missiles.

Odd, right?

However, the Bionic Commando that more people are familiar with is the 1988 NES sequel (also known as Bionic Commando, but titled Top Secret: Hitler's Revival in Japan) that was drastically different. While the gameplay remained the same, the plot had Nathan "Rad" Spencer fighting imperial Nazis in the year 198X and rescuing fellow agent Super Joe. As you can guess, all of the Nazi references were censored in the NA and PAL releases (e.g. Nazi = Nazz/Badds, Hitler = Master-D, swastikas were altered, etc.). This game was remade as Bionic Commando Rearmed for the PSN, XBLA, and PC last year and was followed by a direct sequel (again, it was christened as Bionic Commando) earlier this year. There was also a Game Boy port of the NES title (with a few script changes) and a similar, yet different game known as Bionic Commando: Elite Forces for the Game Boy Color. A lot of info, right?

Who's Badd?

Ok... that's pretty much it. My editorial blog (which has been long since overdue) will be posted in a few weeks' time. I'll also start posting my reviews then (I've finished a few, but I've been too occupied to do anything). I'll be making my rounds ASAP. Catch ya later!

That weird, I don't recall ever being called Bionic Commando when I was at level 28, oh well nice update.

This blog scored a high rating on my list!! BECAUSE...... Bionic Commando on the NES is my all time fav video game. I still have the game for the NES, in the original box, sleeve, instructions and everything is complete, still plays and in excellent condition!!! Bionic Commando Rearmed on the PSN is actually a very good game with all the great elements redone from the original NES game!!! I give your blog my BOTM award!!!! That stands for Blog Of The Month!!!
Congrats!!!!

OH and your title...... This Is NOT The Blog Your Looking For.... That sounds like some type of Jedi mind trick!!!!

I wasn't here a month ago so I didn't know I just made it to level 28 a few days ago! Congrats Good luck with finding colleges and assignments. Finding a college can be a pain if you wait too long. Also looking forward to your editorial blog!

@ jay: I didn't know about the arcade game or Elite Forces, but it's amazing what a little research can do.
@ dark: Really? Maybe the ranks changed, or maybe you just went through the level too quick to remember.
@ kat: Hahaha! Thanks, Jim! Blog Of The Month, eh? I'm honored. Perhaps it IS a Jedi Mind Trick!
@ gamergirl: No worries; I've been away for a bit myself. Well then, congrats to both of us! No joke... I'll finish it as soon as possible.

lawl I never had summer reading assignments during high school. I hope you're enjoying that. I've heard about that Brave New World book, but never read it. Hehe. Oh and I'm doing fine since I just ate the most delicious hamburger of the year. ^_^

OMG you should watch this video, since it's funny. Sephiroth is dancing like that Napoleon Dynamite guy. *falls over laughing* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=189QSTKC5no

Lucky you. Me? I'm not a fan. Brave New World is interesting, to say the least, but it touches base on a lot of stuff that'd be considered odd in this age. Hamburger...? Pshaw... cheeseburgers are where it's at. *looks at video* That was like an acid trip of all my favorite games and anime... Sephy doing the Napoleon sealed the deal.

Good to know! Looking forward to the editorial blog!

The censorship in Bionic Commando sure was over-the-top.

I loved the 2D Bionic Commando (the only one I've played other than Bionic Commando The PS3 one of course) and I really wish the series would go back to 2D or just tweak the 3D gameplay so that.. It wouldn't suck. Anyways, congratulations on leveling up and looking forward to the editorial! Great little info blog.

@ roguele: *scratches head* I'll try to get on it ASAP.
@ havq: Yeah... I guess that exploding Hitler heads were too much, eh? Thanks, and I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I'll try to have it finished soon.

WHERE'S MY EDITORIAL BLOG!?

Haha, just kiddnig Wow, I didn't know there were so many franchises of it o_o

Seriously though, get to that editorial soon
Posted Aug 1, 2009 4:39 am PT
Haha, sorry. I'll try to get on that ASAP. Same here, but Bionic Commando is very popular, so why wouldn't Capcom try to cash in on? They've done that a lot of other franchises...

I like cheeseburgers better too, but my uncle hand no cheese at his house to put on the burgers so I couldn't have one. Haha I told you it was funny. That darn Sephiroth.
Posted Aug 2, 2009 7:39 pm PT
Though their other franchieses are much better in my opinion Megaman and Breath of Fire comes to mind.
Posted Aug 4, 2009 3:56 am PT
@ s4n: Aw... then you should have made him go to the store and buy some cheese! Well... evil men can get down.
@ -kat-: Agreed, but Capcom has kinda ran Mega Man into the ground; they've focused more on remakes, compilations, and new series instead of wrapping up the ones they have (the original, X, Legends, and ZX series still have no finalized conclusion). Plus, they could have made sequels to other great series instead (i.e. Strider, Power Stone, Rival Schools, Darkstalkers, etc.).

Ah, that must be a pain in the neck. Summer's meant for relaxing!

Cool. Congrats on the level-up, and here's to that editorial blog of yours!
Posted Aug 6, 2009 9:40 am PT
Haha, if that were the case... I don't think that school would be as long as it is. Yeah, I have to hurry. Time's of the essence, unfortunately.
Posted Aug 7, 2009 4:16 am PT
You sure have been up to a lot during your summer And I didn't notice Bionic Commando was level 28 'till now Cool!
Posted Aug 13, 2009 5:37 am PT
Yeah, if "a lot" means "doing nothing". Isn't it?
Posted Aug 13, 2009 3:04 pm PT
But I couldn't have done that since it was for my cousin's b-day after all. Even though I'm bossy I couldn't do that. I guess so, but I'm just glad he wasn't doing the soulja boy or anything crazy like that. xD
