Well, this is the big day. Within a matter of hours, the United States will have a new president. As I've said before, I'm going for Obama. As far as I can see, McCain is just a continuation of Bush. George W. Bush's presidency has been eight long years of corruption. He had little integrity over those years. And McCain supported Bush.
I like Obama a lot more. I'm not saying that he isn't without his flaws. But when I line the political stances of Obama with those of McCain, I think it's obvious that Obama is the superior candidate. If McCain can barely mention the middle class, it's obvious that he isn't going to do crap to help revive it.
Though in all honesty, I'm not sure that any president can really fix the economy. What happened in the last eight years is a gross misuse of the U.S. currency. Among the biggest misuses is the foreign investment and development that was funded with the U.S. dollar. As a result, more money was created, causing the currency to get devalued. But the worst part is that it didn't trickle down to the middle class. As such, the rich got richer, and the middle class on down got crapped on. Considering this problem, it's going to be hard for the next president to fix this and get some control over the value of the U.S. dollar.
But hey, if the next president can get us out of Iraq in a timely manner, then that will be a great relief on the U.S. budget. I like Obama's plan, which involves a time frame to getting out of Iraq. If we set a time frame, that will motivate the Iraqi government to take control of it's security instead of relying on the U.S. Whether or not that will actually happen is a different issue, since Iraq shouldn't even exist anyways. Basically, it's a country where factions who hate each other have been forced withing the same borders. It really would be a lot easier to split the country up to give these factions (namely the Sunni's and the Shi'ites) their own countries. That way, they'll be able to run themselves how they want. Their cultures obviously don't want democracy and the U.S. has no right to force it on them. If we don't acknowledge this, then how do we expect to win this war? But hey, what do I know?![]()
Anyways, that's how I feel a couple of the biggest issues in this election. I'm going for Obama, but regardless who wins, I hope the next president will address these issues and others (namely energy independence) with care and integrity.
I know I speak for a lot of people when I say that I'm glad this election is almost done. I'm sick of hearing about it on the news about how McCain did this, Obama did that, Palin screwed up, ect. What about the issues? Oh wait, who cares? After all, attack adds are much more interesting to watch.![]()
The attack adds might as well say 'Vote for me because that other guy smells like dooky.'
I saw a new show on Comedy Central a week or two ago called Chocolate News that poked fun at the whites who didn't want to vote for Obama on the basis that he's black. But the thing is, he's only half black, something few people are aware of. As the host, David Alan Grier said, these people should just vote for the white half.![]()
It's a decent show. I wouldn't put it at the same level as the Daily Show or the Colbert Report, but it's not a bad way to spend a half hour. If you can tolorate racial jokes, then you'll have ab easier time appreciating it.
That's a cool picture.
This makes me glad that I lack a heart.![]()
Blah Blah Girls - Obama vs. McCain
I agree with Foamy here. Regardless how great Obama or McCain may seem, they are still politicians.
That is an awesome song. Slayer is one of the greatest metal bands of all time.![]()
Anyways, I'm sure I've lost most of my readers by this point. I don't have the attention span to read this far into a blog.
In all honesty, if I came to this blog, I'd probably just skip to the bottom where the good stuff is.![]()
Well, that's it. What the hell are you still reading this for?![]()
*rocks out to slayer*

And I generally don't watch the news a whole lot. It seems like it's more propoganda than news, regardless what network I tune into.
EmeraldDraconis: Actually, they come from to much Slayer.
Looks like Obama is going to win, which is fine with me. It's nice to see someone I voted for actually win for once. Now let's see what he does. I truly hope there was at least some sincerity in everything he's been saying, and that he'll at least start to make a difference. It would be even better if his presence in the White House can improve race relations among Americans.
David Alan Grier is so talented and the way he just says things without laughing, I don't know how he does it.
enervator: Actually, the title is a lyric from the Slayer song I linked to. And Whether or not Obama is sincere isn't important. If he is interested in re-election and in his public image, he'd better deliver in at least a lot from what he said.
telvisnostic: Same here. Some of the stuff on there is just dumb, but other stuff actually has a good amount of insight. And I agree, David Alan Grier is a great host. His delivery works so well.
Kingcool: I'm also glad Obama won. And all the Sarah Palin news agitated the hell out of me. And now, she's a national figure.
