So a couple weeks ago i made some upgrades to my computer.

-I ordered a vantec tornado 92mm fan...just so see what its like first hand . Very loud...but im getting a controller soon to quiet it down. WOW does it push a lot of air

-New side panel for my thermaltake armor...the one with the 25cm fan. It cooled my system down a few degrees. i plan on making some leds for it...since there are already holes for them.

-another icage with 120mm fan. I wanted to cool my case down even more. My cpu is now 24 degrees C at idle.

-I thought i might try some readyboost. So i ordered the 4gb Corsair Flash Voyager GT. That thing is fast. Good thing i got it as u read the other news below.

Now for the more important stuff.

-I got the Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Platinum Fatality Champion sound card. It has the I/O panel so i can use optical output. Sounds great. Alchemy was a &#@%$ to get to work...lemme know if u have problems...i can help. WORST OF ALL a $50MIR came out this week....UGH!

-There was a reason for getting such an expensive sound card. I also got myself the Logitech Z-5500 Digital 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers! and WOW i love these. They sound amazing!..very loud! Also I love the control panel.

Thats it for upgrades...but i got more news...good and bad.

First with the good. I overclocked my cpu and gpu a bit more just to break 11,000 on 3DMark06. And Hurray! I did it. I managed to get 11,110 with my cpu at 3204mhz and my gfx card at 648/1512/2016. With Rivatuner 2.05 i was finally able to overclock again.

Now the bad. I had a long bout with BSOD's. It took a couple days before i narrowed it down to one of my RAM modules. Im in the process of RMAing them. My new 4gig flash voyager gt is keeping my performance up to par a bit...as i am only running 1 gig or Ram right now. Thank God i order that puppy.

Also moved my computer setup to the office in our house...it was in our recreational building before. With this new location and upgrades i'll definantly post some pics in the next couple weeks.

Wow, you really know your stuff when it comes to PC parts and what not. I know mostly basic stuff. How do I tell the difference between fans and what not? What makes a fan better than others?

the difference between fans are the bearings (determines how long it will last and how noisey), the dBA rating (how loud it is at max rpms), the CFM (how much air it pushes), and the size . A fan with a high CFM will push a lot of air and cool better, but normally with at the cost of being loud. Like the vantec tornado it pushes 119 cfm (most fans push 50-60 cfm). but also VERY loud as i said...around 58 dBA (most fans are under 25 dBA).
