I've never been a guy that worried too much about his gamerscore. Although mine is starting to get up there. I do enjoy trying to get every achievement possible in a game I like but picking up a game I would otherwise ignore just to get it's points never crossed my mind. That was until I joined Ms. C's MGU Challenge Extravaganza. This is a competition to see who can get the most gamerscore points in 30 days brought to us by the 1st Lady of the Mature Gamers Unite Union, Ms. Cortana.

I joined the competition just to fill out the roster as a favor. Ms. C needed as many warm bodies as possible to get it going. It wasn't necessary really, she drew a good crowd anyway. As it got closer to starting I decided "Well, I don't want to embarrass myself by finishing last (that's what Halo 3's for LOL)" . The next thing I knew I'm standing in Gamestop buying King Kong and a few other very un-DarkElflike titles. I think I was less embarrassed buying condoms when I was a teenager. The look from the kid at the counter was about the same as the pharmicist's was back in the day. "Eeewwww, what are you gonna do with those?" But I found that I like completing borderline to crappy games too. Furthermore, these games that are looked down on are often not that bad. TMNT and King Kong are very easy and not in anyway compariable to a triple-A title but I found that when your expectations are very low, mediocre looks pretty good! There are exceptions. Superman Returns is every bit as bad as advertised but I will try to complete it.

With football season coming up, the family and I got up to Lehigh to check out Eagle's training camp. It's always a lot of fun and the kids can pretty much run wild while I check out the squad. It's also, without fail, 95 degrees and humid every year. Even though you're up in the mountains there is no break. I don't know how the players do it. Report: McNabb, Westbrook, and the rest of the offense should be very good. Could still use a receiver though. Defense? Looks like no pass rush again this year. They go out and get a premium cornerback in Assante Samuel but give him no help up front! Any NFL QB will shred any secondary if you give him all day to throw. *Long, agonized moan here* Between the Eagles and my kids I already have no hair left. I'm running out of things to fall out or, God forbid, off...

I also like to accomplish as much achievements as i can but i wouldn't buy certain games just to oncrease my score. But i understand your reason for it. Good Luck in the Competition

I am not a big achievement type guy myself.I mean, its not as though I dislike them, but between time, and my still playing games on more than a few consoles, its hard for me to dedicate myself to them.

With regards to King Kong, this is far from a bad game. For that matter,at least from an editorial standpoint,KK was regarded as one of the better movie based games ever made. Now,as far as the Superman game, not my taste, not to mention the fact that the demo I played was utterly terrible.Nevertheless,I appreciated Cortana's invite to the most achievements contest, but I didn't enter, and for obvious reasons.

Onto your Eagles.Did you watch their first pre-season game against my Pittsburgh Steelers ? I think both teams should have a decent year, although the Steelers have an extremely difficult schedule this year.

I hung in into the third quarter for the Eagle/Steeler game. Both starting units looked good offensively. Both defenses looked a little raw. Yeah, Pittsburgh has a tough run getting through thier schedule. The Eagles have a medium to good chance to get something going schedule-wise.

Since I don't do any MP it's tough for me to build up alot of gamer points, though i do have almost 10,000. I heard King Kong wasn't that bad if as you say you keep the expectations down. Might get it someday as it's so cheap. Being a Pats fan I was sorry to see Assante leave but i wish him well with the Eagles. Let's just hope our teams get through preseason w/o too many injuries!

I love going for gamer points keeps me playing games after i beat them and saves my poor wallet.
I played KK at a friends house and was also very pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it.
Wouldn't you know I stopped getting NFL network just last week so I'm missing all the games. But man that sounds like lots of fun going to watch TC. Awesome blog made me lol a couple times.

I've never really played crap games just for the points. Points really have never mattered to me, it's whether or not I enjoy playing that game or not. So yeah, I've played my share of crap...EDF comes to mind...but really had fun playing it!
