in response to the comments posted on my last entry...

yep Belgium is right below The Netherlands and the top half of the country (the 'flemish' part) speaks dutch (they call it flemish - but it's a mutually understandable dialect of dutch). The southern part of Belgium is French-speaking and a small area in the east speaks german. My girlfriend (and all her family) are flemish so i'm attempting to learn the languge... even though she is fluent in english (and french and german)... bloody multi-lingual europeans - they put us all to shame!

Yeh I tried to learn a foreign language through school (Italian) but I never stuck with it. I know its pretty pathetic of me but speaking enlgish makes me, us all, lazy in this regard because most of the world can converse in it already.

i know... it's bloody hard and you've gotta keep it up or you forget it all. much easier when you grow up with exposure to different languages through tv, film, and music though. nearly all movies are in english in Belgium - that's gotta help a massive amount

thats why i reckon they're culturally superior, i tried French at school but i sucked at it. hardly remember a single word....

yeah i did french all through primary school, and cant remember all that much. thats like 5 or 6 years that i dont remember...
