I don't really support BET due to their recent actions, but the BET Hip Hop awards kind of suprised me. First of all, BET and Katt Williams had a falling out, so T-Pain ended up hosting it (I almost tuned out at that point). I continued to watch it anyway. The highlight of the night was probably Russel Simmons getting the "I am Hip Hop" award. His speech was moving and talked about voting, McCain/Palin, and the VMA. They had to censor a lot of his VMA topic 'cause he said, "Nothing really got much of my attention except T.I.'s shirt (an Obama shirt). Well, that and that guy (Russell Brandt, they censored Simmons when he said Brandt's name) talking 'bout Palin." Every artist there had a McCain/Palin diss. A few of them:
Lil Wayne: "Doesn't McCain's heart look like it's about to fail him?"
Juelz Santana: "When I ask them questions they play Sarah Palin."
Russel Simmons: read first paragraph
They censored the VMA stuff, but they didn't censor McCain/Palin disses? That's very brave and I commend them for standing up. Every 5 minutes they reminded you to vote. That was a brave presentation, because:
1. McCain might try to play the victim
2. We all know Fox news (I use the term "news" very loosely) will be all over this. Before the awards even aired, they made one of their racial/biased lies and said that T.I. got arrested and didn't make it that night when we all so clearly saw him perform that night.
anyway, I think BET is finally on the road to recovery, and in a few monthss or maybe a year, we can once again call it Black Entertainment Television.
Okay, so I was driving home from school. We were turning a curb and all of a sudden, some lady immediately, with no signs of remorse, cuts in front of us and nearly smashes our car. She's in front of us and I notice, there was a KKK sign on the back of her car. She moves into the other lane (on purpose). My mom, in the driver's seat starts to look at her like "WhatTheHeck!!". And of all things she could do, that lady laughs and points the middle-finger at us. She had her son in the car. He was about my age (13), maybe younger, and he looked sorry, as if he was telling me "I didn't want it to happen like this". My mom shrugged it off, but it INFURIATED me! I was so mad that she would automatically do something like that just because I was black. i hated her, I was hoping she would get in a bad accident, but Mom told me not to wish death on someone because it would come right back to me. The hate is still boiling within me, but like I said in my Rlami post, we need to pray for people like that. God will help/punish her. He put me in this situation for a reason. Evil should not be paid back for with evil. Racism is such an ugly thing...
BUT LOVE IS ALWAYS STRONGER THAN HATE!
