Fishing

I went on a 3 day trip to the north of Iceland, to a small place called Akureyri. These 3 days became 15 days. You see, I went fishing, and since I dislike walking around with pockets full of stuff, I decided to put the car keys in my bait box. This seemed like an excellent idea at the time. When it was time to call it a day and head home, it didn't, as there were no keys in the box anymore.

We searched the river bank thoroughly, we even got our hands on a couple of metal detectors the next day, but we still had no luck finding the keys.

To make a long story short,we had to wait 10 days for new keys. And the cost..... not something to laugh at: $475for new keys + $158 for towing the car back into town.

Fortress-Forever beta testing

The Fortress-Forever team has started accepting applications for public beta testing. I applied a bit late, and I haven't heard from them. They probably have over 1000 applications by now, so I'm not getting my hopes up, but I'm pretty psyched about the upcoming fortress games. I've not found a replacement for TFC yet when it comes to online playing.

Business

August is starting up nicely business wise. Two "orders" for new sites (one is a remake of a site allready using D10), and it's only the first of the month!

I also finally set myself a deadline for the new D10.is site

(here we need to break the line because GS editor removes the space after the link) and deleted the old one. So until next sunday all you can see there is a splash screen of sort.

Since all football tournaments that run on D10 are over for the summer, I'm hoping I can take a few days off soon.

Gaming

I've not been playing much, but when I get the chance I wonder around Chernobyl as a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I've had great fun with that game so far and if I have anything to say about it we will get a bunch more of such 1ps+rpg hybrids.

However I can barely run it on medium settings with my 1.8 ghz cpu, 1gb ram and GeForce 6800 GT. I plan to build a new system in October/November, it's time to upgrade when medium feels laggy . This fall we will see a bunch of exciting games, which is always the reason behind PC upgrades. I'm no exception there. I really haven't upgraded my PC for 3 years. I bought the 6800 GT when HL2 was released, and justified my actions by promising myself I wouldn't buy a new graphics card for 3 to 4 years. And now it is.... almost....3 years since we got HL2. Imagine that. This episodic content sure is working, so far we have had 4 hours of gameplay in 3 years

And what exactly is the deal with the different coloured boxes? Just because you decide to squeeze more games in, games you know most gamers allready have, and don't really want to buy again, that's still no reason to say the game is cancelled!

A friend of mine pasted me this url the other day. I couldonly imaginehis hysteria as he typed something like "WTF ???????? EPISODE 2 HAS BEEN CANCELLED, OMG!!!!!!!!!1111"

He got his groove back when I explained that the game hadn't been cancelled, only the box.

Gamespot Blog Editor Tip

If you click the emoticon Icon, and then panic as the browser window seems to be completely frozen, just relax. According to my experience writing this post, you will only have to wait for around 3 minutes while the emoticons load

It is indeed a great year to be a gamer - Mass Effect, Bioshock, Assassins Creed etc. I'm broke and out of time already

I read your blog and watched the Mass Effect video. It looks damn promising indeed, but it won't force me to buy a 360, nor will any other games

Assassins Creed looks awesome, but it's hard to judge the fun of gameplay by videos, this much we have learned in the last few years I'm sure.

Personally, I'm really excited about Crysis. I'm also hoping HL2 Episode 2 will be good, it's not about walking through the narrow corridors, but if I know Valve correctly your freedom will be simulated and not real.

P.S. My space bar works fine, it's just the GS Editor that keeps deleting spaces randomly, I have no idea why. It just combines words on it's own. I've tried to edit the post a few times, just to re-add the spaces between words, but no luck so far.

Tough luck about the keys. Sucks when something so small can lead to such huge.... setbacks.
I watched the trailers for Fortress-Forever, and it really is impressive. Actually it might even turn out better that TF2 for some. Not for me though, I like cell-shaded graphics

It would be ideal if both games are good enough to stick, as long as both games would have big enough communities.

FF looks really fast and furious. I've never been a fan of bunnyhopping myself, so who knows, maybe I will end up in TF2 rather than FF.
