My PS3 problems hit a new level yesterday. I was passing a Game store and without really thinking about it, went in and bought a new PS3. I got the thing home, unpacked it, then removed the hard drive from my faulty PS3 (it was an upgraded 320GB disk you see) and tried turning it on..... Sadly the new PS3 didn't like what was on that disk and wanted to format it and re-set the system up from scratch!

I have since been told that disks from the original "with support for PS2 built in" PS3's cannot be installed onto the new "no PS2 support" PS3's.

So there I was, the proud owner of a new PS3 (that was not much use to me as I still play quite a lot of my old PS2 games) and an old PS3 that was not working.

My last resort was to call Sony support and see if they could help. They did manage to help but charged me £145 for a refurbished unit to swap with my faulty one. This turned up today (and my faulty PS3 taken away in it's place) so at least I am back up and running again and my 320GB hard disk is working fine with all my stuff still on it

Now I just need to get a refund on the new PS3 and everything will be good with the world again.
