Well well well, why are things never easy when it comes to trying to run simple things like the email app for the iPhone??

It all started when I recently changed my email account from a hotmail.com account to a live.ca account for a more mature image I guess you could say. Anyways, I had my email app set up for my hotmail account no problem since I got the phone a couple months ago. Once I changed to the live.ca account it was just a pure headache, I was told to enter my own pop3 and smtp information for the email servers. What? why? haha. It did it automatically with the hotmail account information. Well I was off to the races, google that is. I google my little heart out trying to find information on how to set up a live.ca account with the correct servers. I was doing something wrong I was sure of it, I couldn't find anything for live.ca accounts, only the regular ol hotmail and live.com. I tried many combinations of entering my email account information with pop3.live.com and the same thing for smtp server info. Nothing was working.

Today though I did what seemed to be the exact same thing as the days before....and it worked! Why!! Why! Why!?
I well never know now what I was doing wrong. For anyone that comes across this page on google that needs help with a live.ca account on the email app for iPhone here ya go:

Make sure you have the POP tab selected when setting up and entering your information. Inter your name, your email address and for the description make sure it is also your email address. (not sure why...just do it) For the incoming Mail server type in pop3.live.com for the host name, make sure you enter your user name as your email address, even though your password might be already inputted in the password line, deleted this line and retype it in...just in case. The same goes for the smtp out going server information. Type in smtp.live.com as the host type in your email address and then your password. Hit save and WAIT! I think my mistake was not playing the waiting game. It ended up connected with no problem and now my email app is working jsut fine!

Have a good one!
