Sweets: You know, a sane person would regret murdering someone more ... than being taken in by a line of crap.
Zack: Define crap.
Sweets: Drivel, blarney, nonsense, uh, balderdash, twaddle, bull, bunkum, hooey. Like that.
Zack: Now I realize it was drivel-blarney-nonsense-balderdash-twaddle-bull-bunkum-hooey. Then I perceived it as logic.

And thus my return to Bones is complete. I mean not just my body but my heart as well. I guess they haven't jumped the shark as I had previously feared. The Perfect Pieces in the Purple Pond was the best episode in quite awhile and perhaps Eric Millegan's best. Ironically Zack wasn't given this much attention in a storyline when he was a regular member of the cast. Now that he's an occasional guest star, he gets the best scenes. Go figure.

The above dialogue takes place very early in the episode and the printed text fails to capture the essence of th moment when Zach repeats Sweets' words they are in rapid machinegun fashion. I searched YouTube but failed to find the scene.

The other bright spot of the episode is Hodgins and his struggles adapting to a world where he has lost his girl and his best friend. Thanks T_Brennan for not giving up on me. Let's hope there are many many more good Zack episodes and because of the way the script was manipulated, possibly opening the door for Zack to return permanently. Until that day arrives we will continue to watch a different squint every week, much like we did when Murphy Brown had a new secretary every week. Wendall was good as the sub in this episode and the week before , The Practice's Michael Baddalucco was exquisite.

There will be a scheduling conflict Wednesday night as there will be three shows I want to watch and/or record at the same time and my dvr can only handle two of them.

  1. Bones - TW's favorite show. It's not going anywhere.
  2. The Cubs' first post-season game vs. the Dodgers. No way I'm going to throw the guys under the bus. Not when this just might be "the year."
  3. That leaves the Season opener for Pushing Daisies. Afraid Ned the Pie Maker will lose out this time around. Anyone know where I might catch it online?

Hey, this happened back a week or two ago and I never mentioned it amidst all the site changes and my vacation but I have achieved Level 20! Don't ask me what a cow bell has to do with television but I'm sure there is an obtuse SNL or Seinfeld reference in there somewhere.

In Gay news, two professional singers have recently come out of the closet. The first wasn't unexpected, the second a big shocker. Hey everyone, Clay is Gay I've always liked Mr. Aiken and thought he got the shaft when he didn't win American Idol. Now...., oh forget it, it's too easy.

The other singer to announce publicly his orientation is fellow Hoosier Christian artist Ray Boltz, 55, who is perhaps best known for his megahit Thank You seen here on YouTube. My personal favorite of his tho is Watch the Lamb, seen here.

This news made TW sick. Me not so much. In an interview with The Washington Blade, a gay magazine, Boltz, who sold about 4.5 million records before retiring from the business a few years ago, said ""I'd denied it ever since I was a kid. I became a Christian, I thought that was the way to deal with this and I prayed hard and tried for 30-some years and then at the end, I was just going, 'I'm still gay I know I am.' And I just got to the place where I couldn't take it anymore ... when I was going through all this darkness, I thought, 'Just end this.'"

Political Question. Given Sarah Palin's performance on the public stage thus far, how will she do Thursday in her only debate with Joe Biden?

  1. Biden will chew her up and spit her out.
  2. Palin will send him back to Delaware wimpering and licking his wounds.
  3. The debate will result in a draw. Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann will declare victory for the Democrats while Sean Hannity will pronounce a knockout on the Republican side.

Finally, this space will go dark now til Wednesday. I encourage you to find something else to do tomorrow so we can catch the eye of CBS. (Clever, huh?) Me? I'm going to probably work on a new post for Wednesday. My Week 4 NFL Pick 'em Awards, f'rinstance. Plus, a new banner for the Baseball Playoffs will materialize.

Go Cubs!!

Only MovieTome renders the above exclamation as submitted.

Zack kicked ass in last week's "Bones."

Hey Tommy,
I was waiting for your thoughts on The Perfect Pieces In The Purple Pond. I too thought it was the best episode in a long time (I would go back to The Verdict In The Story.)
I thought this episode might re-store your faith in Bones (and for that matter my faith as well.) I felt everyone was very in character tonight, although I am thinking we're seeing a little bit too much of Sweets (I do like him, but I mean he seems to be getting more screen time then Zack used too.)
You know I think they could call this episode "Hart Hanson tries to backpaddle furiously." I really do feel that perhaps season five could be the return of Zack!
Let's hope we see him again sometime soon and I hope your 2-show/1 HUGE baseball game delimma works out ok!
TB
PS. No problem, that's what tv.com friends are for, right?!

i think Palin will send Biden back to Delaware whimpering and licking his wounds. I believe that Palin is much more clever than Biden anticipates.

Congrats on getting to level 20! You're right, Cowbell is indeed from Saturday Night Live. In answer to the political question, I would have to choose answer 3. See you Oct. 1.

You have really shocked me. Gay Clay? No, the other guy. Wow. Congrats on level 20. Yes, cowbell is an SNL reference. It's from a very funny skit with Christopher Walken. I think I've done pretty well so far on this week's pick 'em. Again, I had no help from MH. I'll see you next month!

I think the debate will be declared a draw.

Pick'em didn't go well for me this week. I made too many upset picks that didn't pan out.

Go Cubs. I'll be recording Pushing Daisies while my heart is in my throat while the Cubs play.

Hey Tommy. Congrats on level 20! I'm inching near level 29 (94 % so far)...I don't know how though. I thought Obama did great...so I'm hoping Biden does the same. Take care and see you Wednesday!

Clay is Gay I'm guessing that'll mean the Christian bookstores will have to pull his CD's.

I'm also guessing #3 will happen, but I'm rooting for #2 so that women with glasses can rock the house.

I think it was a particularly funny Sweets/Zach moment . Have to agree on Zach haven't been used better now that Eric is a guest star. I am not of the Zach worshipping school though, I like him, but I'm not missing him when he isn't on the show (please don't shoot me... or stab me). I liked Wendell, I wish he was staying.

Why would your wife be sick because someone's gay I don't get that, it's not like she has a chance with him anyway. Someone I worked with told me a couple of months ago that John was wasted (she doesn't know I'm gay and it made me so angry... why can't I crush on a gay man, he's in another country, in a relationship, never gonna meet so what would it changed if he was straight? Oh, wait, I get it, it's the christian thing that made your wife sick; I don't understand that either.

Have a good Tuesday.

Just DVR the 2 scripted shows and go out with TW to a restaurant and/or bar and watch the Cubbies. Problem solved.
Posted Sep 29, 2008 5:44 pm PT
I too will missing Bones and Pushing Daisies on Wednesday. Gotta watch the Cubbies. You can catch Bones on Hulu.com and you can try ABC.com for Pushing Daisies. However, I have had trouble getting ABC.com's player to work the past few weeks. Hulu on the other hand is absolutely brilliant. See you on the other side of the Blackout.

Hey Tommy! Good to see you. Don't stay dark for too long.

I thought Bones had jumped the shark as well, but the first two episodes of the season were a fluke I guess. Episodesd 3 and of course 4 were awesome.

I don't know if it will be there but surfthechannel has new episodes of everything almost pretty much immediately so if you miss Pushing Daisies check there the next day. There's a pretty good chance it'll be there.
