Hey everyone
!
This week, for 'My Song Of The Week' I've picked a rock song
, yes, you read right, a rock song, not a rap song! Anyway, this song doesn't have Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz on it, or even Ice Cube, it's by The Cruel Sea. The Cruel Sea are a great rock band, but they're not around anymore. The lead singer, Tex Perkins has moved from band to band over the years (Such as the Beasts of Bourbon and his solo career (Which is what he's presently working on.).) and is a very talented man, and this song proves it. The song comes from their album 'Three Legged Dog' (Which does have a picture of a very happy three legged dog on the front cover by the way.) and is the eleventh song on the album. 'Three Legged Dog' isn't their best album in my opinion, I think 'Over Easy' was a better album but this is still an alright album, but the song I've picked for 'My Song Of The Week' is one of The Cruel Sea's best songs. Anyway, the song's called 'Better Get A Lawyer' and as far as I know, it's the hardest rock song they've made to date. I mean, it's got a heavier guitar riff than their other songs, but it's still good and works well with the song. Actually, the guitar and lyrics work really, really well together, it's not just about the lyrics, but it's not just about the guitar either, it's a nice harmonious balance between the two, which is always a good thing. Anyway, the drums are good as well but aren't really as noticeable as the lyrics or the guitar. The lyrics as far as I can tell, talk about someone committing some sort of crime and then that leads into the chorus: 'Better get a lawyer song, you better get a real good one. Better get a lawyer song, you better get a real good one.'. The lyrics all flow together well and seem to lead onto each other rather then just jumping from verse to chorus like some bands do. Anyway, The Cruel Sea have done a really good job with this song, everything works together nicely and the overall package is great. I'll rate it 8.4/10. Happy gaming
