The Types of Gamers, the good and bad, and depressing.

Due to popular demand from Elvis the lawn gnome, I have been asked to describe the history of gamers. The following below is the descriptions of each type of gamer:

1. The Casual. - The Casual gamer is the kind of person who knows of the games, who speaks of the games whenever it gets mentioned in conversation, and enjoys the game. Such games they are familar with are Mario, Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter... all the type of games that are commonplace. The Casual plays games when there is nothing better to do.

2. The Veteran. - The Veteran has played their share of games before, and they have memorized every button on their preferred controller. They know the secret paths that their friends never ventured before. They take a new game as a challenge and, if it appeases them, will take that challenge to the very end. The Veteran will not be satisfied until they watch the credits roll. Such games that the Veteran plays are Final Fantasy, Mario, Zelda, Resident Evil, Halo, to just name a few, namely the more difficult ones.

3. The Newcomer - The Newcomer is the one who is entirely clueless, yet shows interest in the videogame industry. Regarding this, there are certain ways they are introduced. Some are greeted by the industry as simple as watching a friend play, and wanting to try it. Another way is through advertisement. Most of the time, though, when the Newcomer gets their hands on the controller, they seek which games will pique their interest, though, due to inexperience, they may not pick a good selection. The Newcomer is usually greeted with no resistance by the average gamer, such as the Veteran and Hardcore. However, within any community, including this one, there is resentment to new people joining the communinity and calling themselves gamers. Those resentful are quite bitter due to their positions being challenged, and mainly that they do not want young or inexperienced players to interact with. Such games they play are definately the simple ones, with the simple titles, such as Super Mario Bros. 3, and usually whatever their friends recommend to them.

4. The Pop Gamer - The Pop Gamer, to be blunt, is the very bane of the videogame community. These are the fools who think they're gamers and hardcore, but in actuality, cannot complete a game on easy mode without difficulty. They are called Pop Gamers because of the popular games they play, and nothing else. They pop in a game of Madden '06 or '07, and they think they are on top of the world, only to be severely disappointed when someone they challenge beats them in 3 minutes. The Halo franchise is one of the best examples as to which games the Pop Gamer plays. They play it because their friends play it, and that is all they play. Age range is quite significant, as well. The younger is about 12 years old, who think they know games better than people my age. These kids attempt to exemplify their superiority in online games, and when they pull a Leeroy Jenkins* on us (See Footnote), they blame it on anybody except themselves. On the other hand, people in their early 20's are the adult version of the Pop Gamer. These players exhibit no original thought when it comes to a videogame. Again, they will play only what their friend plays, and they will spend hundreds of dollars on a videogame system, purchase one game, and never play another game besides what they bought. In any case, the Pop Gamer is definately someone you do not want to get involved with, mainly due to the reason that they show no manners, and they are impossible to play a decent game with.

5. The Hardcore. - The Hardcore is the elite gamer. They know the game so well they know what scripting language the game was made with. Each Hardcore has a series that they follow every game within it with the utmost dedication. Their level of experience is unsurpassed by anyone else, even the programmers themselves awe at their ability. The Hardcore is not only excelling at one game system, they excel at all games they have played and all systems they have touched. They memorize the controls in 30 seconds or less. No game they have challenged they have not beat. After the credits roll, they seek out every possible secret, easter egg, and extra power-up possible within the game. Such games are Mario, Zelda, Resident Evil, Metroid, Final Fantasy, Valkyrie Profile, Grandia, Skies of Arcadia, the list is almost endless. These games are not for the inexperienced, and not for those who do not have the will to finish.

6. The Fanboy - Ok, I lied, the Pop Gamer is not the only bane of the videogame community. The other evil that lives, is the Fanboy. This is probably the most common term when describing a player. It is not a good term, either. The Fanboy is the one who sticks to one system (Wii, Playstation 3, XBox360, GameBoy) or company (Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, SEGA, Atari), and will defend it using whatever means necessary. The Fanboy, in short, is the politician in the gaming world. When one says that the XBox is a pretty cool system, they are a casual gamer. When one says that the greatest game of all time is, quote, "OMG HALO IS THE ROXXORS MICROSOFT FTW", then they are a Fanboy, and Fanboys are mostly incorrect with their information. Take this example. First, I have no idea what he just said, second, Microsoft did not make Halo, as most Fanboys will have you believe. It was made by a little company called Bungie. Third, that was just annoying, and will not get you any social points. And lastly, if you want to get technical with me, and you will not win , the greatest game of all time is Super Mario Bros. 3, selling more than 35 million copies worldwide. It is technically the greatest because this is the top selling game in the world. It is a fantastic game, yet not my favorite one. There are Fanboys for every system, company, and game. Fanboys wnat you to think that they are among the Hardcore, which is far from the case. The main difference between the Hardcore and the Fanboy is the Hardcore will play the game first to decide if they like it or not. Yes, they do have a favorite system, but they will not bash a company or system unless there is clear evidence, and a good reason to do so. A Fanboy will condemn anything that he and or she is not familiar with, just to run their mouth. They will debate why the XBox is so superior to the PS2, even technically, the PS2 is the top selling system as of Nov. 9 '06

Apparently there is a demand for this article, so if you want me to cover anymore types of gamers, they will be included in a future update. *Leeroy Jenkins is the most well-known player in World of Warcraft, an online game. In a nutshell, he destroys everyone's careful planning when he aggrovates all the dragons in a room and everyone tries to save him, and he basically screws the group over so all their characters die trying to save him. His trademark call is "LEEEEEEEEROY JEENNNNNNKINS!!!!"

I'm getting alot of friends lately, cool!
Some people just don't have opinions. Like Consmiths_Angel.
Consmiths_Angel must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could Consmiths_Angel possibly have for not rating a single film?
