Jheesh. As if having a half dozen 360's crap out on me wasn't bad enough, my 80GB PS3 decided to follow suit. I had a bunch of friends over & we were watching Spiderman 3 on BluRay & halfway through the flick, the PS3 couldn't read the disc anymore & subsequently stopped reading any disc I put in it.

Man, I guess I just have some crap luck with these consoles this generation. I figured the PS3 was the more reliable system but I guess it's prone to failures as well. I'm shipping it off to Sony & should have it back within 3 weeks or so & still have my 360 to keep me company until it gets back, but I'm sure getting sick of all these damned pricey consoles breaking down on me. I understand that systems with lots of hardware in them can be defective, but it's getting a bit ridiculous at this point.

Maybe its because some dust went into the PS3's lens?

It seems the 40 gig is worse. Any way it happens, people forget that the ps2 had the same nasty problem, except it never got as bad as it is with the 360.

Wow you seem to have horrible luck.
Sorry Colorado!

You should start checking your electrical wiring.

^Um, electrical wiring has nothing to do with the fact that the PS3 still worked, it just wouldn't read any discs. Come on now...
But yeah, I'll get over it. A new one is on the way & I'm looking forward to playing uncharted when it arrives so it's cool.

My bad. My previous post probably came off wrong.

Sounds like just some bad luck. My 80GB PS3 works fine.

You are very unlucky, hope it doesn't happen again.

Yeah, got my new PS3 back last week, (they basically sent me a brand new one with another copy of Motorstorm even), & it's humming along fine. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Don't forget to install some custom PS3 themes. I'm currently rocking a Christmas theme.

Sorry to hear it dholmes, but I must admit that Sony's custome service is leagues better than Microsfot's.
Yeah, LosDaddie, I'm all over the cool free themes, I switch mine up often. Thanks for the replies folks & Happy Holidays!!!

Something tells me you keep your consoles inside of an oven.

Actually dewman, I am super anal about my consoles so the probs I've had are definitely no fault of my own. I assume you were kidding, but I definitely take care of my systems the way they were meant to be taken care of & I've still had lousy luck this generation.
