I traded my Premium 360 up towards an Elite today.  I have had 3 Premiums break down on me & was on my 4th.  Thankfully I had an extended warranty so I didn't have to pay to get the system fixed 3 times, but it was a pain in the ass to have to go through the process of sending the console into MS & it's really negligent on their part to release a system with so many bugs & hardware issues.

Do I love the 360?  Oh yes, very much.  I love the games, the power of the system & the whole Live implementation.  But that doesn't mean that I will turn a blind eye to it's issues.  I picked up the Elite today in the hopes that I will have better luck with it than I did with my Premium systems, but if the Elite doesn't last me at least 3 years, I will be done with the 360 altogether & all the money I spend, (and I spend a crapload of money on videogames/systems every year), goes right back into my PC & PS3.  It's not something I would want to do because there are some seriously rocking exclusives coming to the 360 that I'm dying to play, but I absolutely would on the principle alone.

So it's all on you now Microsoft.  You come out with another system not even 2 years after the original 360 launch & expect people to buy it for more money even though the original systems had so many problems.  That's a bit of a bitter pill to swallow, but I still shelled out the extra money to get the Elite in the hopes that it will be a stable system & to try & show a little brand loyalty.

Don't let me down again Microsoft, I've been too lenient on you in the past with the technical issues of your system, but no more.  Here's hoping the Elite lives up to it's name, because the Premium sure didn't...

Ugh yeah.. my third 360 is on its way to me as I type (Wednesday it should arrive) I think most of this comes from the people at the repair center doing a half-assed job and not doing what they are supposed to. I have friends that have had zero problems with their 360s, yet others are on their 2nd or 3rd. It's strange.

Thanks for feeling my pain jello. Yes, I know people as well who haven't had issues with their 360, but I also know others who have. But I think I've just gotten to the point where I simply won't put up with it any longer when I could be spending my $ on PS3 games, (the system has been technically rock-solid), or PC titles, (I have a pretty buff rig). So yeah, I'm hoping the Elite does it for me so that I don't have to turn my back on the 360 altogether.

Pressed on your profile by accident but I felled like replying
A friend of mine traded in his 360 without it being broken once as he was affraid that it would break in the near future. He got himself a PS3, the thing broke within the first month. I understand your pissed at MIcrosoft but as log as your 360 is in it's waranty you shouldn't trade it in for a PS3.

^I never said I would trade in my 360 for a PS3. I already have a PS3. I was saying that if my Elite flopped as well that I wouldn't get another 360 & would just stick with the PS3 & my PC. Big difference.

I don't get the problem, if your 360 breaks just send it in to MS. I had one 360 crap out on me, but I actually found Microsoft's customer support very helpful, as they got a replacement 360 back to me very quickly. Seriously man, I value your input on the various 360 forums more than most, as you just seem to always have helpful answers and suggestions. Don't leave us!!!

The problem is that there is a serious design flaw with the 360. As I mentioned above, I warranty my systems so I never had to pay for repairs but after getting the Elite, I knew that if it flopped I would leave the 360 behind. The good news is, my Elite has run flawlessly since I got it. It runs quieter & cooler than any of my previous Premiums so it's really all good at this point.

How'd ur Xbox's crap out so fast? u leave them on or play for long periods of time?

^Neither. They crap out so fast because they are built for crap & have design flaws. Plain & simple.
