Traffic Giant is a fun game and shows that if you focus on something you can make it work, unlike Locomotion that tried to stretch itself on several fronts. The game focuses only on creation of public transportation and nothing else. One would not think that creating bus lines and tram lines is fun but it is.
Graphically game looks good except maybe few glitches when the trains turn and cars sometimes driving through each other or pedestrians walking through them too. But the graphics are not the main aspect of the game.
It has a great variety of different vehicles available to be used. As the game progresses more and more of the vehicles become available to be used. Among them are busses, rams, suburban rail, monorail. The newer vehicles carry different price tag, maintenance and attractively (which means how attractive they are to the people in the city).
Citizens of the city do have unrealistic want for the transportation system they still are picky when it comes to using it. The amount of maintenance that goes into vehicles, ticket prices, number of zones, unwillingness to transfer from bus to bus more than 3 times, driver attitudes and speed are all taken into account. Paying them too much of salary while will make drivers friendly will also make them think too much of themselves. There is a need for advertisement to let the people know about your system and also the word of mouth effect is simulated. Depending on wait times people will use or won't use the certain lines. All passengers have logical destinations in mind unlike Locomotion.
Overall game is nicely done to simulate a lot of things. I am not saying it is perfect but it better at city transport than Locomotion is for sure.
Another good thing is that player creates the route thus telling the bus where to go exactly and thus avoiding possible traffic problems.
Also in this game accidents also happen if you do not train bus drivers enough. Plus cities have traffic that does interfere with the public transit as in real life.
The game also has nice intro but the in game movies do become annoying after a while. Plus there are visible clues that the game was meant to have some features that were never realised such as advertisement on the buses and MAGLEV trains.
