Been playing Fire Emblem for the GBA. The one that's just called "Fire Emblem." So far, it's really good. Fun gameplay, and as you all probably know by now, I'm a sucker for character-driven storylines (Grandia II, Ace Attorney, Fire Emblem, etc.), so it's got a pretty good story too. And my personal favorite aspect, interesting/good characters. Eliwood is a little one-dimensional, but Hector is pretty interesting. Florina is kind of funny, and Sain and Kent always make me laugh as well. On the nicer side... Lyn is definitely interesting to watch.

So, you know what that means... time for an avatar switch. Lyndis this time. Three pictures, here, here, and here. The first one is a headshot of the official art for her, with a gold background. The second one is another piece of official art. The third one is her forward-facing sprite from the game, with a red background. As per usual, pick the one you like best.

Not much else new... still waiting for Modern Warfare 2, but a large number of DS games have piqued my interest as well. Namely, Mario & Luigi, Scribblenauts, Kingdom Hearts, and Phantasy Star 0. So I might rent one or two of those while waiting.

Instead of a picture today, it's a short funny video. See it here.

While I've got you here though, anyone have anything to say about the following Fire Emblem games; Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn, and The Sacred Stones? I heard Radiant Dawn was ridiculously hard, and if so, I don't think I'll do too well at the moment...

I love Fire Emblem! Actually, it's called Fire Emblem 7, or at least that's what the fans call it, since it's actually the seventh in the series if you count the Japeneese games. FE7 for the GBA was actually my favorite handheld game of last gen. But yeah, the story's pretty amazing. It was my favorite story in a video game until I played the Ace Attorney games, actually. Sain and Kent=awesome. And Lyn's story was great. As for the Fire Emblem games, good luck, because you're in for a bunch of disapointments with the entire series. It's still an amazing series, but FE7 is by far the best in the series, with FE11 behind it. Sacred Stones is probably the worst; it took a more FFTA-like approach to the series by having an overworld with enemies and such. The result was the game ending up to be really hard at some parts and really easy at others. Not to mention it probably has the most boring maps in the entire series. Of course, it's still Fire Emblem, and it's still great. I should also point out that Sacred Stones probably has the most advanced job system in the entire series, oddly.

The other two console games are interesting. While they didn't do anything as risky as Sacred Stones, they added in a subhuman system, were you also control humans that, instead of attacking with wepons, turn into animals for a limited time and attack that way. However, for some reason, the developers decided that the series's job system should take a step backwords for it . So, the job system isn't as complex as in other games. Also, the maps aren't quite as good as the two others. Radient Dawn is a direct sequel to PoR, so don't play RD untill you play PoR. RD was made more difficult, but in turn, you can also save in the middle of matches and return to where you were when you die, similar to a system in Shadow Dragon. It also had diffrent select difficulty levels. PoR is actually my favorite in the line of games you haven't played, but you should probably play SS first so you don't get too disapointed with it. All in all, they're all basically experiments with the series that, while still great, didn't work as well as the other games.

@-DaNuTz- - Try eBay. You can definitely get a cheap one there. Now a DSi on the other hand... I'd wait until the prices drop a little.

@GamerJM - Ah, I was confused, since I played FE6... and found that it was a sequel to FE7. So... what I got out of that is, if I've only played 6, 7, and 11 so far, I'm in for nothing but disappointment?

And I've never played Final Fantasy Tactics... can you elaborate on that a little?

Man was i glad that i played Fire Emblem (GBA) on an emulator, I save stated and restarted so much because I didn't want to loose any of the characters and then risk missing some of the story between them. such a great game

Yep, that's exactly what I meant. They're still good games, though, IMO. But go onto any Fire Emblem community and the first thing you will encounter is about 100 flames towards 8, 9, and 10. Actually, they don't like 11, either, but I thought it was better than the others, at least. There reason for not liking 11 is diffrent from the others, though. They mainly don't like 11 because the job and leveling system is apparently much less evolved then the newer games because it was based on the original NES's leveling system . As for FE8 being more like FFT, basically, there's an overworld. In between chapters, there will be enemies on the overworld, and you can have your party encounter several weaker enemies. The general Fire Emblem community says that it makes the game easy, but I disagree; that's like saying Final Fantasy's easy because you can level grind. Another expierment FE8 took was that it had mutiple story paths. This means that your first runthrough will be much shorter, but you'll almost need to play through the game twice to get the full game out of it. Not to mention the maps just aren't as fun as the other games.
