I havent been here in awhile since I had been spending every waking moment watching Doctor Who. Well, I'm back but I havent gotten Doctor Who out of my system yet. Dont think I ever will actually. Doctor Who is now one of my fave shows. I already ordered a T-shirt online and I bought Planet of the Dead on blu-ray yesterday. My ringtone is currently the theme song and my morning alarm is currently the sound of the TARDIS (it was previously the Pushing Daisies music). I will buy all the boxsets eventually but I need to save money first. Watching Doctor Who brought me back to the TV I used to love and love again. Three important things for a show:

  • Chivalrous characters
  • Light mood
  • Rewatchability

Doctor Who has them all, as does my all time fave, SG-1. I'm so glad to be back to that. I didnt realize how unimpressive the shows I have been watching lately really were until I went back and compared them to my old criteria. I feel much happier after watching Doctor Who than anything currently on TV. And although David Tennant cannot compare to Michael Shanks on my scale of celebrity crushes, Daniel Jackson does have competition in The Doctor for awesomest character.

so martha jones made it to your list of favourite characters? i'm happy you love "doctor who" that much. i will be back to comment on your lists, so far there's just one thing i have noticed and that is that "gridlock" would have made it to my top list of episodes.

Dr. Who is an awesome show and I should really catch up. I'm stuck at season 3 for some reason. Wow I really can't remember any episode names and looking them up wouldn't help much since it's been almost a year since I've watched most of the show. That's some really awesome vids though

For some reason I've never been able to get into Dr Who. I'm sure I'll try again someday. I liked Martha fromn her appearance on Torchwood. Glad to see Captain Jack on the favorite character's list.

Last of the Timelords is your favourite episode? YOu're the first first I've read that likes that story. For me it was too much. I've never been a fan of the new series (it's what made me get into the old series) and watch it because it shows promise but that Season 3 finale was one of the worst stories they did. I can't even explain why, too many reasons. Glad you're liking the new Doctor Who but I find the old series to be superior in terms of writing anyway.

@Bea Martha made my list because there wasnt anyone else unless I wanted to put Mickey or Jackie. She was better at the end of S3 and in her reappearances in S4, but useless as a companion. I thought Girdlock was really stupid. A whole city stuck in traffic, go feet per year. There is no way a society could survive like that. Someone would have done something long before The Doctor showed up.

@Daria I didnt expect most ppl to know the episodes but there wasnt much I could do about that, so it's ok. I put a pic to at least help those who might recognize them. Dont know if you are referring to the clips or the fanvids, but either way, yes, they are all awesome.

@Emiko I dont expect most ppl to understand why I like the shows I do. I wasnt really recommending Doctor Who, although you can watch it if you like, I was just ranting. I didnt know you watched Torchwood. I though Martha was boring in it. After Rose left I was like, "Oh no, that means that girl from Torchwood is gonna replace her now." Jack was great. I didnt know he was gonna be in it so much.

@Pedro Ok, I have no idea what is wrong with the S3 finale. Except they didnt fully explain what they did at the end, but its sci-fi and I'm used to not understanding. It wasnt as much of a stretch as in Journey's End or The Age of Steel, where things just decide to start blowing up. Last of the Timelords was so exciting. My brother loved it too. He watched about 50% of the series with me. I'm not interested in the original. Its so old and so long.

I was reffering to both the clips and fanvids All very awesome.

I like Stargate so I may have to check out Doctor Who. I had seen the old series and enjoyed it but never got into the new one. Thanks, Jeffery

That's a cool blog! I will be back to watch your vids later but I have to tell you now that I think that my favorite episodes would be very similar. I loved the Master-storyline as well, I like John Simm in general and that's what got me into the Who-verse actually. When I watched it again (having seen the rest), I think that a lot of people enjoy sound of the drums, since the doctor spends so much time as a dwarf in the finale. No matter for me it's one storyline that worked and I love to see more of the doctor/master stuff. The tenth master is my favorite too, btw, and I also think Martha was the least interesting companion. I remember most of the top ten and like them, the top five would be mine as well. Girl in the Fireplace was so great, I loved it. Thanks to your pictures, I remember most of the worse episodes too and I have to agree... Very cool blog, it'll be fun to watch the vids. *hurries away for now*

As you know I don't watch doc but I had to comment!

while I only watched one episode (which i didn't care for) after reading I may try to view a few more and give it a fair shot.We seem to share in many viewing habits so I may have just seen one of the off episodes.

Love your blog! I thoroughly enjoy Dr. Who - no one else in my family seems to get that - and Torchwood. I'm not quite the addict you are though. lol I didn't really get into the series until David Tennant and then I was hooked. Pushing Daisies is one of my favorites but I never got around to viewing SG-1 consistently. I've got Caprica & SG-Universe on my list not to miss.

@ Jeffrey Yeah I recommend it for the ppl who I have more in common with, such as yourself. I saw two epis awhile back cuz my sis and her kids love it, but I thought it looked stupid. One epi with the 9th Doctor and Rose, and another with the 10th and Matha. But so many ppl thought it sounded right up my alley, mostly SG-1 fans, so I gave it another shot. And once you watch it in order the silliness is just great fun instead of seeming stupid and you can really get attached to the characters.

@ Ela Glad you like the same epis, since one person said my least fave was one of their faves, and my fave was their least fave. Wasnt sure if there was something wrong with me for a sec there. I loved the Master storyline but I am not familiar with John Simm. It was just kinda epic, and I loved how The Doctor was saving them all even when he was in a cage, through Matha. Totally my hero. Glad my pics helped. Enjoy the vids.

@ SMGslayer Actually I didnt know that, but thanx for stopping by.

@ Tazman I definitely recommend a second try. Like I told Jeffrey, I saw two epis awhile back cuz my sis and her kids love it, but I thought it looked stupid. One epi with the 9th Doctor and Rose, and another with the 10th and Martha. But so many ppl thought it sounded right up my alley, mostly SG-1 fans, so I gave it another shot. And once you watch it in order the silliness is just great fun instead of seeming stupid and you can really get attached to the characters. If you agree with my 3-point criteria, it should be right up your alley as well.

@ Tesser I watched Torchwood long before Doctor Who, which probably wasnt the best idea, but it is more serious so I wasnt as skeptical about it. So glad I gave it another try. So excited for SGU but not Caprica. Caprica and BSG are the polar opposites to Doctor Who and Torchwood within sci-fi. Not in every case, but generally, BSG is sci-fi for non-scifi fans. They certainly dont fit my criteria. I dont know about rewatchability though since I'm not a fan. But definitely not chivalrous or a light mood.

Glad you liked the Season 3 finale but I would give the original series a chance since it partly set up the new series as well as certain elements appearing in the new series like Davros or K9. His appearance in Journey's End (another erm...fan favourite apparently) doesn't really make much sense unless you've seen the original series. I thought Martha was the Tenth Doctor's best companion. Please don't get me started on Rose.

Never saw Dr. Who.
Posted Sep 30, 2009 4:05 pm PT
Well, we both enjoy Doctor Who, but once we get into detail about, there is nothing else we have in common it would seem.
Posted Sep 30, 2009 4:46 pm PT
That's the same way I feel Buffy. I can rewatch it over and over again, and never get tired of it. Doctor Who sounds like a crazy good show. I can see why those your favourite scenes. I really like The Doctor meets Alonso. It's hilarious.
Posted Sep 30, 2009 5:55 pm PT
I adore Torchwood and that's why I've tried to get into Dr Who. I'll try again someday, I personally want to because it looks so interesting and anything that spun off the incredible Torchwood has to have merit. I was actually hoping Martha would come back to TW to "replace" Owen.
Posted Sep 30, 2009 7:13 pm PT
@Jon Watching it again its not as funny. And I imagine isnt as funny if you didnt watch the series, but when The Doctor asked the guy his name and he said Alonso, I laughed so hard I almost pulled a muscle. It was awesome. I'm so glad you checked out the clips. Buffy is definitely a show that fits my criteria. Go Buffy!

@Emiko I got both from my sister since she has all of both series. She always told me DW was way better than TW but I didnt believe her. I finally gave in and watched DW and I'm so glad I did! She kinda rubbed it in and I felt silly. Jack was totally the perfect character in DW to get a spin-off. He's great in DW as well, although he is only in 10 epis. Thats still a good amount for only recurring. Martha would be better in TW I think. Something about her just didnt fit DW for me. But she was great once she joined UNIT, and in the S3 finale. So Torchwood is the same kind of deal.

Hi Rebecca Sorry, I don't watch Doctor Who Best of luck with overcoming your addiction I'll come with you to AA, I need to overcome my Prison Break addiction
Posted Oct 1, 2009 6:34 am PT
ok i never ever saw a doctor who episode but i did see the weakest link doctor who special and i loooooved all the people + i really realyl adore david tennant and john barrowman so i might give it a shot some day
Posted Oct 3, 2009 2:24 am PT
I didnt even know there was the weakest link doctor who special. Did they reference the fact that in the show there was an epi set millions of years in the future where ppl were eliminated from the game by being killed off and only the winner lived? It was actually one of the best S1 epis.
Posted Oct 3, 2009 8:44 am PT
nope they didnt. you should watch it its on youtube. well it was a scary episode because the lady ding the weakest link is scary! but i loved it. even that dog thing robot whatever was in it but got eliminated the 1st round
Posted Oct 3, 2009 8:53 am PT
Lol, K-9!
Posted Oct 3, 2009 12:44 pm PT
I saw a bit of it. It just had people from the new series. Understandable I suppose. I believe Jackie and Mickey were contestants.
Posted Oct 3, 2009 2:52 pm PT
i've realized that there are too many episodes i don't recall properly. i would add "human nature"/"the family of blood" to my list of favourites. i didn't care too much about the boarding school story line but the doctor having forgotten about his real self and dreaming of living a normal life was heartbreaking.
Posted Oct 3, 2009 3:06 pm PT
and "gridlock" reminded me of "blade runner" in a way and other rather apocalyptic science fiction movies and i actually like them very much to some extent ...
Posted Oct 3, 2009 3:08 pm PT
I'm surprised that you only watched Doctor Who recently. I haven't seen too many scifi series, but I remember enjoying most of the episodes immensely. Sadly, I don't remember much now and I'm also not good with titles (except for Blink, which kinda stood out for me). What was the title of the "black hole" episode? And the one with the metaphorical hell. I believe all their season-enders were winner episodes. I also liked the one with the creepy gas-mask-wearing children. Donna was my favorite companion and enjoyed the episodes with Captain Jack. Thanks for those clips!
Posted Oct 3, 2009 4:12 pm PT
@ Bea I didnt love "human nature"/"the family of blood". It was ok, but since the Doctor didnt know who he was the whole time, it was like there was no Doctor. And the Doctor is the show. And I love apocalyptic stories, but I still found Gridlock silly for the reasons I already mentioned.

@ macky Yeah, I'm surprised I didnt watch it sooner as well. I should have known it would be perfect for me. Blink is a big time fave and is featured on the T-shirt I ordered, some maybe remember the reference . The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit was also a really good two-parter. Would be in my top 15. All the season enders were great, but my least fave would be season 2, with the Daleks versus the Cybermen, when we lose Rose. Not only because we lose Rose, it just didnt interest me as much as the others. The one with the gas masks, The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances is another common favourite. It was rather clever, what ended up being the cause in the end. It was also great to meet Jack, but its not a big fave. Gotta love Donna and Jack. Funny how she kept wanting to hug him, and finally does in the Bring Earth Home clip.
