Wow . . ... who'da thought. I've been with my wonderful wife for 17 years now. What a trip. The first few were pretty rough with barely two nickels to rub together from week to week but our committment to each other has always gotten us through all the tight spots and now - touch wood - it's all clear sailing. We both have good jobs, will have good pensions and are living debt free so as long as we have our health, it's all good. So a toast to my wife [ who is a saint to have put up with me for all this time ] and here's to the next 17.

17 years. Seems like an eternity. I've mostly been in and out of relationships. Mostly due to committment-phobia. The idea that my choices could screw up someone I care about has always frightened me. Now, I believe I'm ready for committment. Not marriage (not neccessary), but sticking it out with someone. Congrats.

@nate1222 - I count myself very lucky to have clicked with the right person. They will be carrying us away in a double pine box because we are together for the long haul. When you meet the right someone, you make choices together for the common good, and stick it out, for better or worse.
Best wishes to you for finding that special someone.
