I totally forgot that gamespot journals even existed until instead of clicking on the profile tab, I hit journal by mistake. This entry is nothing special, just my views on Nintendo's newest idea, the Revolution controller. Everybody has something to say about this controller, and everybody seems to be posting them too. So not wanting to be left out, here's what I think...Things I like:
- ability to turn console on/off via the controller. I've wanted that since the genesis.
- looks cool
- FPS games could be amazing. I've never really liked FPS on the console because of the controls, but this seems to be able to change all that.
- RTS games could be amazing. There haven't really been any good RTS games on a console, again, because of the controls. The whole laser pointer could really work well in a console RTS game
- I. hate. attachments. I just sorta laughed at nintendo when they released stuff like the e-reader, gamecube/gamebody link cable, and the donkey konga drums, because I knew I would never buy them. Todays games are expensive as it is, don't make me go out and buy a $50 game, then make me pick up a $30 attachment just to play it.
- Again, the attachments. The idea is neat, a game can be as creative as the developers can make it. They can create a really unique attachment for the game they make. Until you figure that the attachment they make will never see the light of day after you beat thier game. Maybe it won't happen, but I don't want to buy a new accesory for every "unique" game if I'm never going to use it again.
- It just looks uncomforatable. Gamespot says you'll definately move around more and use more energy with the revolution's controller. I LIKE sitting laying down on the couch after a hard day and just relaxing by playing a game. The gamecube controller is so comforatable in my hands, I could fall asleep with it. A remote control and an attachment though? I doubt it.
- Will it really be "innovative?" Something kept going through my mind when I read about the demos on IGN. "I've swear I've played games like that before." Oh yeah! fishing, guiding something through a cave, shooting things, airhockey - I've played them all as simple online flash games with my mouse. How fun...
- 3rd party support. The controller is so radically different, I think it will be hard for 3rd party games like splinter cell to go to the revolution without them having to make a seperate attachment for it.
- One last thing about attachments. If they aren't free, then nintendo will furthur isolate themselves from 3rd party developers. "Hmmmm, should I get medal of honor for the ps3 or the revolution? Oh, wait, I would need to get an attachment just to play the revolution version of medal of honor. The hell with that."
- an image above shows a hand slashing through the air with the controller, and zelda slashing a bad guy. A cool idea indeed, but I get the feeling it would really take you out of the game experience. Instead of totally focusing on the battle, you're focusing on the controller, kind of ruining the mood.

Finally saw it tonight. Very good movie, and pretty funny as well.
It's true!!!

Finally beat the damn game. Took me awhile, because although it's one of the best RPGs I've ever played, other games seem to grab my attention shile I'm trying to play it.
Thing I like most about it? A solid ending. That's something you don't see a lot of in todays games. Most developers already have 3 freaking sequals planned, so they leave you at a cliff hanger. God I hate that crap.

Some people just don't have opinions. Like Cheeto.
Cheeto must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could Cheeto possibly have for not rating a single film?
