So, I was reminiscing with some old friends about our elementary school days and I had some memories of an book I'd read when I was in the second or third grade.
It was cartoony, but meant to be a scary story for kids. I think the illustrations were primarily in black, white and red, but that could be my memory playing tricks on me. This would have been circa 1987-89, so the book is at least that old, but I have no idea when it was published - it could be ten years older for all I know.
As for the story, the main character - a little boy - was walking thorough the woods, and was chased by some monsters. He got away by hiding in a cave, but then different monsters (spiders, maybe?) showed up and chased him further and further to a dead end. There was a little tunnel and he tried to squeeze through, but got stuck. Right when the monsters were about to get him, a disembodied floating hand comes along from the outside and pulls him out. But when it flies back to its body, the boy realizes it belongs to a huge female monster who proceeds to treat him like her new baby or like a pet. He's trapped there, and they watch monster television programs together. Her favorite is about some fur-ball monsters that eat up a bunch of school children.
That's not the end, but that's all I really remember at this point.
I have no idea of the title, or the author, but I'd like to find it again. Does anyone know any resources for finding books based on key words, or something similar? It's kind of driving me insane. From Google and Amazon, I get nothing (or rather, I get too much information to be helpful), because all of my search parameters seem too broad. I spent an hour sifting through Amazon itles and got nothin'.I'm just casting about for information at this point. Any ideas Gamespot?
